Ahtanum update 12/21/2017

Ahtanum update (from other riders input - thanks)

No snow at snowparks. Around 2.5-3' on top, mostly powder on very little base left from November.

People were parked at Whites Ridge and TreePhones. Was told that the road up to Eagles Nest was a bit sketchy for sleds (rocks). Was told 8-12" at those locations.

No big storms in sight, maybe a little more over Christmas. Longterm forcasts are trending slightly better, but any significant snow will probably be after the 1st.

No grooming yet, no berms.

Ahtanum Update 12/23/17 PM

-As state by summ8rmk, about 6" of very dry snow at the snowpark; this will probably compress to about 1"....beautiful powder, but still need a base! Still the amount was a pleasant surprise and unexpected. At least we will have a white Christmas!

-Groomer has been notified; we will re-evaluate after the next storm Christmas eve on when to possibly start grooming.

-I did hike yesterday afternoon to about 4200' elevation on a SW slope prior to last nights snowfall, found very little old snow from November - even that high in the shade.

-Forecast is for more snow later this week and some warming. Extended forecasts have also turned more favorable.

I was on the other side of Adams. I only took one picture unfortunately. This was about an hour and a half into the day. From this picture it was a workout to get back to the truck. Somehow i twisted my knee standing on my sled, POP it went. hopefully I'm not done for the season When I took this picture I was trying to figure out how my brother was going to get me out of there, after laying there for about 20 minuets I was able to ride out slowly

Let's see if this works...

Great ride at Tampico on Saturday, amazing snow if we would have had 5 ft of base underneath it, but I'm not going to complain too much.
