Tall Men's Jackets?

 curious as well, i'm 6'6 and my northface jacket from 2000 is a tall size. But haven't seen a lot of options lately, looking for an update.

Get a hold of some MotorFist they should be able to fit ya good!

Sent from my super duper sweet iPhone using Tapatalk when I should be doing something productive!

I was not aware that MF made tall sizes yet.

I opted for an FXR Renegade XC. Zipped the liner out and it fits my 6'6" pretty well with an XLT size.

I'm 6'3" and have ape arms. I wear an XL Klim Valdez coat and find it plenty long even though it isn't a tall. I wear nothing but tall clothes if possible, but finding a top quality riding coat in tall is impossible. Try on a Klim and see if it works for ya.

IMO KLIM product arms are sufficiently long in sizes XL and larger for most of us monkey men however the Torso is still way too short on their pullovers.

They would be smart to offer tall size options for upper garments in addition to the pants/bibs.

I gave KLIM the benefit and tried on many jackets at the Puyallup snow show in 2011 since KLIM had a major booth and offered to help any vendor that was selling their product. I was not happy with the sleeve/body length options or the thought of finding a XXL size for length and then having it be too bulky around the middle. I could not find a suitable jacket that I was willing to spend $400 on at their booth.

Yeah, that's hubby's problem - 6'4" and very skinny. He can wear most XLs to fit his arms, but it's so bulky... I'll check out FXR and Klim though, maybe I can find something for Christmas ;-)
Thanks guys!

Try the klim, they have the wrist gaiter thingy you put your thumb through, some guys don't like them but I sure do!!!

I'm about the same height and ended up with a Klim 2XL pullover and wear my body armor underneath which takes up most of the extra bulk. Arms are plenty long. It works, still wish it was longer in the torso.

KLIM MAKE SOME TALL SIZE UPPERS PLEASE! I sent them an email already:face-icon-small-ton

Klim has nothing for tall people unless you want to put a bunge cord around your waist! I'm 6'4" and weigh 235lbs. I need a XXXL in a Klim coat to get the sleeves to reach the butt of my hand, need two more inches to reach the base of the thumb like a coat should. For the price you pay you should not have to "settle" for shoulder hang to make up for sleeve length. Cabelas have some tall sizes with good sleeve length.

Try Mountain Addiction 509-881-7688 I bet they can custom mfg. for a few extra bucks.
Their gear is Made In USA. The material is the best and most expensive in use. They also have a waterproof air vent system which is very cool.

I have always been a fan of Cabela's tall sized stuff too. Own a bunch of it. Nothing offered up close to the utility of the rider specific designed clothing though.
I heard back from Klim already because, well, they just rock that way:yo:
They are looking into the amount of interest out there for tall coats/pullovers.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU CONTACT THE MANUFACTURERS! They appreciate the feedback, and sometimes even listen!

I am in no way affiliated with KLIM, just dig their products and business ethics.

Klim

I'm 6'2" and weigh about 240 with a 6'6" wingspan. I started with a 2XL Tall Valdez coat a couple of years ago and the sleeves litteraly went past my fingertips. My local dealer was gracious enough to give me full credit towards a new coat even though I had worn it all weekend and torn all of the tags off. Plus it's tough to beat their service, I just wish they were still made in the USA. Like they say, if it wasn't SO worth making them in China they wouldn't.

Old post but I'm wondering the same thing.

I'm 6'6" 230 with a 80" wingspan.

I just got a 2XL motorfist ( I have a tekvest under or i would be swimming in it ), i'll make do but the sleeves get yanked down my arm at 90+ degree bends...I got big gauntlet gloves to cover me but its one of my main annoyances being tall.

Does no one make Tall snowmobile jackets? they make pants why not jackets?

I saw Ski Doo Helium 30 comes in Tall, but when I looked the sleeve measurements where not any longer than the motorfist I got.

There is nothing in Tall Sizes from Motorfist, FXR, Klim, HMK, Arctiva, Castle, or Coldwave. None of those companies have made a tall jacket yet, and have not heard anything as to rumblings of one coming either.

Reason your not going to find much is just not enough demand. It takes huge minimums for these companies to make products that are different sizes etc. This is the reason you do not see entire lineups offered with tall options in the bibs/pants. Usually just one or two versions available in talls.

Question for all of you guys thinking you need tall coats, is it the sleeves or the body that you need bigger, or both? We quickly ran the numbers here at the shop and there is not one person on this thread that has posted their wingspan height and weight that seems that out of the norm. The owner here, is 6'2" 200 with 76" Wing Span, 32" Sleeve measurements, and a 34" inseam. When you guys are referring to wing span you mean finger tip to finger tip right?

Just doing quick math with the gentleman above this is what we would have recommended trying first…..

Finger tip to finger tip is 80"
Sleeves don't go to the tips of your fingers so subtract hand lengths, approx 7" on both sides, and This is a super conservative number for hand lengths.
This leaves 66" from cuff to cuff. Divide that by two for sleeve lengths. 33"

A Klim XL Jacket Sleeve fits lengths 33-34 so you should have more than enough room. Again this is just based on the measurements that you provided, but just looking from that we would definitely guess you did not need a 2XL or a "Tall" size.

Would love to hear more feedback!!

The biggest issues is finding a coat with long sleeves that Im not swimming in. I can find them with long enough arms but then they are just huge and baggy around the arms and body.

Well those measurements sound right when I measured my arms finger tip to finger tip.. 80" or 6'8". when I measured from neck down my arm to wrist I got about 33-34". My hands are about 9"

Just got my 2xl motorfist .. sleeves should be for a 36 measurement.

the sleeves are fine in length if your arms are just hanging at your side but get in riding position bend elbows and the sleeves get yanked half way up my forearm exposing half of my forearm and pulling tension on the little hand cuff things. Now I am used to this its not out of the norm but I'm tired of it. I only have 44-45" chest, but with the tek vest its not to baggy on me.

I own one jacket that has properly lengthened sleeves and that is a Troy Lee Blias racing jacket. The sleeves go clear down to my fingertips and past but when in the riding position they are perfect...never ride up.

So to answer your question, Yes on sleeve lengths and torso lengths being to short. mostly sleeves though.

I have a XL Decente jacket for skiing that fits me ok but again the sleeves are super short and so is the torso.
I don't care what the measurements size charts say they are full of it.

I deal with it I just wish somone would make a proper riding jacket with long sleeves.

PS. I have 37" inseam and both Tall Klim and motorfist tall pants fit me great. ( I wear 36 Tall Klim Dakkar moto pants, and I just got XL Tall Motorfist Big mountains )

Why can't they make a coat with longer sleeves? maybe there is something else going on with the way they do their measurements on jackets... klims are too short too.

One more thing, this is not as much as a concern because its underneath but you should see my XL Motorfist base layer shirt. it looks like 3/4 sleeve shirt on me. So something is definitively funky with the way they size chart sleeves. its not only them its most all.
