I was going to take it off but it looks like the plastic provides some rigidity.

Any comments?

I took my plastic part of my belt guard off 1200 miles ago it works just fine also a piece of rubber hose slid on the plastic belt guard post to replace the rubber bushing that won't stay on. It will also help with vibration.

Take em off!

Both pieces, I've relocated many many customer's tool pouches either on the backside of the footwell(on either side) or take the owners manual out of the seat and throw it in there. One customer cut his seat out. I don't bother, can't feel it when riding anyways.

I also too kthe plastic from the righthand side out too. Ziptied the harness and wiring to the frame, up and out of the way of the engine and pipe.

Take it off but be sure to shut the sled off if it rolls onto clutch side. That plastic is supposed to keep the side panel off the primary.

I removed the plastic off the belt gaurd and the right side early last year. Over 1,000 miles later and it is still fine.

great idea on the ruber hose over the belt gaurd post. That rubber grommet came out every time I put the gaurd on. I tried superglueing it in, but it still got tore up and came out.
