Taking girlfreind to the mountains for the first time ADVICE????

I have not read all the responses so I may double up on things.

Take her to Boulder Mtn. Maybe just the cabin the first day. Let her play for a while at the cabin. And rest, and warm up. Don't forget to sign in and on your way back, sign out.

She will get stuck, if she does not, she is either better than you thought or she is not out of her comfort zone. DO NOT GET UPSET WITH HER. Even if it is over and over and over, and you would love to say some stupid male comment, you bite your tongue and continue to encourge her.

One of the most difficult things for me to learn when riding in the mountains was to stand tall to turn the sled. You made an excellent choice of sleds, but she needs to understand that even though it does not feel right, nor as easy to stand tall and turn the sled, it really is a lot easier than trying to wrestle a 500 lbs sled. The sled wins, she loses and so do you.

Balance on the sled is key past the cabin. She will need to be standing a lot and she needs to know how to work the sled. There are some pretty good hills that she cannot avoid and she needs to just go for it. Hesitation will cost her.

Remember you are taking her, so she comes first. Better get used to the fact that women are always first. ;)

I am jealous though, I so miss Revy. But husband has almost everything done; he should have his 10 yr greencard by June as well as my passport, so we can head back across the border for some sweet, incredible June riding for my birthday again. Although he wants to head to go to AK, which would not be terrible, just a much longer drive.

Oh ya, take a GPS and know how to use it, along with beacons, probes, and shovels for each of you. Safety first.

Find a nice hole under snow laden tree limbs for her call of nature. This is shortly after you zipped pass the only restroom on the mountain (you were thinking of the unpleasent cold seat). Oh, and the group should be close enough so she can hear conversation .. it will make her feel at ease while she piddles.

Be thoughtful .. ask why 'she' thinks she is getting stuck all the time, why 'she' didn't see that tree, and why on earth 'she' can't find the break lever. This demonstrates you respect her opinion... not just always stating your's.

Asking your sweetie to keep up with the group will enhance her motivation. This will help her to exceed any preconceived limitations, allowing her to excel where she never thought humanly possible. If the day is going well, throw in a small cournis jump or two before heading back to the cabin.

Show her that there is nothing to fear about this strange, isolated, scarry environment, by farting and belching regularly. Demonstrating your relaxation will subconcously make her feel at ease. Her feelings come first, you know ...

During breaks, focus conversation on the technical aspect of snowmobiles. Discussing the latest engine mod or suspension changes will help educate your women (oops, I mean woman) on the finer aspects of the sport.

Oh, and start out by buying your cupcake the cheapest clothing for your day on the mountain (drab brown or solid black are best). If your lady doesn't like snowmobiling and won't ever-never-ever go again, you can point out your thrifty-ness.

Do these things, and any Sheila will reward your thoughtfullness at the end of the day with that sweet lovin' (I mean, that's the only reason you take her along anyway, right?).

Regards,
Da Lady's Man

P.S. Now read it again with a lisp.

Don't expect her to follow you off those snow covered tree jumps or up the ice covered hillside between trees hanging onto your sled running along side and still making it up the hill. Maybe you should leave her at Larry's cuz he rides like a girl anyways.LOL

Don't let F/A and zal ruin your fun. At least you are taking a girl with you, they take each other.

#1 rule: DO NOT YELL AT HER WHEN SHE SCREWS UP!!!!

If you can remember this most will go well...........

as for the rest of it...........

if she's a pretty solid type personality............you can tell her what the hubby told me...........

Go where I go or stay home :)

its amazing what you learn when your "keepin' up with the boys"

Just saw your thread so I am a little late. Anxious to hear how it went. My ex used to yell at me if I got stuck, he was a trail guy, I am too adventurist for that. Found the right guy to ride with. Now I keep with most. It is patience and teaching that will make her love it. Warmth, wine, and mostly encouragement always works. Let her get the balance of the sled, just dont' put her in over her head too quick. Challenge is good.

Best advice anyone gave me, it came from another female. Get off your azz and give it gazz!

some SERIOUS azzzzzkissin on this thread OMG!!

That’s what i thought.

Just take her on a short ride on a warm day. Tell her the basics so she knows what to do when she gets in a tight spot.

I am going to take my gf out in about 2 months when we get some sort of base. Mine likes to ride 4 wheelers so hopefully she likes snow.
;)
