T3... Whooaaaah

I just saw where this is posted. Why is it in the Polaris section? My bad, I wouldn't have posted at all if I had seen that, I am not here to poke bears. :)

You bear pokin' sob! Haha

We need to meet up and ride this year. I want to try your Doo

jaynelson::: just ride a t3 for 2 solid days liek it was a rental and you might want to change your mind. i never thought i would be on a doo but here we are. who knows next year might be cats year or well long shot maybe yamaha.
just have to go at it like i have stock to stock outta box. also doo gave me 4 yr bumper to bumper warranty. thats pretty awesome that the next guy who buys this sled from me gets bumper to bumper warranty for a while.

Yup, my buddy tried running it here on the flatlands and couldn't as it would just overheat.

T3

I'm just glad all manufacturers are pushing the envelope to benefit us. I do own Polaris a Doo and have ridden new viper on boost. All sleds run great. The new T3 will b king for the year. It rolls over easier to get into sidehill, new front end and 3" track hold a better sidehill. It floats so much better than the others by a long shot. The new mapping is dialed in. The new skis float and turn better than the d2's. Still not sure they r as good as the grippers but close. It takes far less effort to ride to in all conditions. Example: last ride I put on 48 mountain miles and am usually riding more than those in our group, everyone else had 52 plus miles riding the same or less distance than I. The track spins that much less!
Good year for Doo.
FYI I'm not brand loyal, who knows what I'll b riding next year?

Pretty hard to beat a 174 in the deep and steep... It will do any thing the smaller tracks will do better, but it's more work to throw around, but with the changes the t3 has done in the overall, it will be minimal

Oh I'm sure it's a good sled...ridden a couple Xms and a bunch of different sleds with 3" tracks, so I've got a pretty good idea. If I were worried about being top dog, I'd skip the stock thing and buy a turbo. 4 year warr is great....my 2011 pro had that from new... just ran out this year....can't beat that!

thats sweet the T3 is working so well i kinda thought it was a gimick:noidea:
but it sounds like its runner awesome! thats more pressure on everybody else
to up their game
be interesting to ride one i did the long track thing a few years back and
can't imagine going super long again that 3" paddle is bad s.o.b. though

I'd love to put some seat time on a T3 to see for myself. I'm not against other brands, Polaris just happens to have the chassis that suits me best right now. However, as I pull my family into the sport, I don't see much need in my near future to have such a purpose built steep and deep mountain machine. Hence my purchase of the standard RMK snow check this year with the extra cooler. I bet half of my miles over the next couple years could be easily done on a 136 x 1.25" machine...but the OTHER half, well, ha! That's why I bought the 163. :)

Good to see competition. Polaris will undoubtedly have to release something new.....not because the current model doesn't work (and work really well!) but because in order to maintain market share people want more.

All good things in my book.

I just did a 3 day trip with a buddy who has a T3 174". It's good, but neither of us thought it was magic or anything. I was riding a '15 Pro 163 X 3", and it seemed like we were about even. He is about 40 lb. heavier than me. He did say that he felt it was washing out on sidehills.

Riding it briefly, I thought that it was real easy to tip into a sidehill, but I could feel that track behind me like a train following along for the ride.

He thought the Pro was tough to tip in to a sidehill compared to his sled, and I agree.

I'm glad I bought the Pro; he is happy with his purchase also.

Polaris needs to take a page from BRPs play book. BRP has a mountain committee that is comprised of ten dealers from across the US and Canada. They converge every year with BRP engineers and express their customers concerns and wants. They test and refine upcoming new models and improvement. They are very instrumental in changes brought to the floor at BRP dealerships.
PI needs to move in this direction, look what it has done for BRP. Yes the back country riding gurus have their place in this process, but their riding style and deep pockets don't reflect the average consumer. Our PRO chassis is awesome, but we need refinements and reliability issues resolved. A dealer network mountain committee would give the consumers a voice at the table. Our dealers wouldn't get this all to common "We haven't heard of this before, your the only one having this problem". Sound familiar.

Good to hear the T3 is working - it will drive both of the other OEMs to build a better sled. Sometimes it works.

Doo has had their share of overhyped summits and 'innovation' in the past. I've owned a bunch of them, goofy stuff that ends up not working, as a band aid for some other limitation. 36 front ends for the XP, the XP, ported tracks for the XRS, 800R, offset skis, mixed length lugs on the ZX, HAC, etc. You never know if what they are hyping in the spring is really gonna work in production. Yeah, all the OEMs have done this, doo just does it the most with the quirky stuff. Too many burned fingers, I guess.

Doo will certainly sell out of T3s. They probably should have made a lot more of them - a lost opportunity. With RMKs at the end of their model lifecycle, the M market just imploded on itself, a new Viper that's unproven, doo may have really penetrated this market deeper if they offered them as an in season sled. We'll never know. Next year the market will be interesting if poo does the new RMK. So many M, Summit, Nytro riders switched to the RMK, many will probably give the new RMK a try before switching again.

You're right on the mark, BRP has also conducted blind consumer sled market research with actual sled owners through independent third parties for the past 15 years. They paid Joe Smos for time and opinions at third party research facilities. And listened. That research and resulting product and execution decisions led to 60% share of the trail sled market. But it took BRP a decade to do it this way. The mountain cmte is a way for them to do it much, much faster. We're talking what sells to the average guys here, not the CBs and DAs.

After almost sinking the RMK brand in 05-10 like they meant it, Poo made it back on top of the segment, but with doo really setting their sights on the mountain segment since 13, it's gonna get more interesting. Poo's to lose, and they've done it before.

Polaris did put out a questionnaire this year that addressed most of the aftermarket options, a step in the right direction.

Problem with the Pro coming out with a new engine? It takes 2+ years of them exploding before they get them right. Someone name the last reliable first (or second) year Poo 800 engine.
For Poos to be any lighter, they will have to use exotic materials and they cannot do that to keep the price point. They are already too fragile, as good of a mountain sled as they are.
I can sell a new Pro tunnel in 10 minutes, I have a line of people wanting them. I don't know anyone looking for a Doo tunnel.
The T3 is another refinement for the XP/XM chassis. I am very happy with mine.

I'll bite on this one. I'll give you two years that I bought brand new hardware from Polaris. I bought a 2007 Dragon 700 and put 3800 miles with no motor problems. Then in 2011 I bought the new Pro 800 and put another 2800 miles on it and never had an issue. Do motor issues happen? Sure, but they get over exaggerated by the 4M and haters of Polaris. I'll be in line for next years sled.

You are talking Pro tunnels? What about all those Doo bulk heads and rings? I can count in double digits how many people I know that had Rev's that reported as totalled because of a bulk head hit. I'm not hoping anyone has issues, but they do happen.

S and E modules as well. Bracing only prolongs the inevitable.
