If that’s true I would be suspicious. But from what I have heard it sounds like a good plan. I might have to study up on it. I’m for anything that would lower gas prices.

he is also owner of the LARGEST natural gas company in the world, does that tell you something!

Doesn’t he say somewhere in his plan to change the cars over to natural Gas?

He states "This is one emergency we cant drill our way out of ". The truth is this is one emergency we cant get out of without drilling.

I don't think they can plant wind turbines in the ground fast enough or enough of them. What's a big windmill make for power 3-4 MW? A little jet package will make 60 MW and then you take the waste heat of that and run a steamer to make even more power. Plus you can turn it on and off as the grid demands and it doesn't have to be windy.

"In the Texas panhandle, just north of Sweetwater, is the town of Pampa, where T. Boone Pickens' Mesa Power is currently building the largest wind farm in the world.

At 4,000 megawatts — the equivalent combined output of four large coal-fire plants — the production of the completed Pampa facility will double the wind energy output of the United States."

and I say........let em drill EARTH 1st!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
there is too much good oil out there for us and our hands are tied.
f u g g i n world trade anyways, we should be self--sufficient, f u g em all!
and FU pickens and the sierra club u rode in on!!!!

Let me see if I have this right. Pickens says that we need to be harvesting wind energy on "farms" with subsidies and tax breaks , sell the product to the power companies(federally mandated that the power companies MUST buy it from your "farm" in your guaranteed market.

Now keep in mind that the power companiy must keep it generators on full steam so that it can keep the power consistant and clean even when your mills quit turning due to lack of hot air (why do you think they wanted to put a bunch of them in teddy kennedy's back yard).

How much energy are you going to save with that setup?

If this was such a great setup then why are food prices up so high when farms operate in much the same way?

Do you get the impression that pickens wants do make another billion or so on your back while he lies to you about his intentions?

Exactly, you have to put a thousand wind turbines or more, probably much more to make 4000MW, and the wind has to be blowing to get it.
The U.S used something like 3,500,000 MW/H in '05. Wind turbines while noble in idea will never really make a huge difference, but that's just my biased opinion. It seems to be more of a way to get an old oil guy to look "Green" and make a few more bucks

I also think that pickens is in it for profit but I think he is dead right about keeping money here in the states. we need to keep our money and our jobs here or we are doomed to reduce our standard of living to that of the rest of the world.sure pickens wants to capitalize from this good on him thats what drives our economy. instead we are about to elect leadership that wants to make the problem worse. We should close our borders to foreign oil and trade in general and put americans to work again. This is America we dont need expensive foreign oil and cheap chinese junk.

I'll second that, I try and buy American whenever i can. The problem is that I am in competition with contractors that won't do the same. Fortunately there are many us made products available at a competitive price and my clients are mostly loyal to me becaause of workmanship and referals and not price alone. I am sure many businesses are buy foreign to be competitive or close the doors.

Also we need to tighten up the borders on immigrants, and get rid of the illegals that are here. To do that the govt. needs to go after the employers AND if they can't work they'll leave on their own.

That's right, demonrats and republicans alike (including Mccain) were touting the new illegal amnesty bill which would keep wages low and then they promptly voted to raise the minimum wage.

Anyone see a problem with that logic?
