Swapped tunnels. What do people do regarding the VIN?

Don't really want to cut it off and rivet it on as I have the old tunnel sold. What do guys do. Go to an engraver? Heard the fully legal way is to get a new vin from the RCMP.

Just have it engraved on your new tunnel. Inform the buyer of the old tunnel that you are going to grind down the serial number on the tunnel so there are no licensing issues.

The vin is on your bulk head too I didn't do any thing on the tunnle. But I did keek the stock tunnle so I would removw the numbers on the stock one as said before. I did talk to a dealer on this. They said they had a shipment of new sleds that was damaged. They replaced 9 tunnles shiped from polaris none of them had vins on them so they just ingraved them and noted the change in the history. Hope this helps.

in the US legally if you ever sell the machine with out the state that its titled in having their certified stamped new vin number in the tunnel you can get in some serious trouble. i dont know about other states but in idaho its only $13 and takes about 10 minutes (on my 3rd tunnel on my current sled). not worth the legal issues to do anything else in my opinion

Every tunnel I have done without a vin number I just register and insure it using the number off the motor plate works all the same if its the original motor not sure if that would even matter, but its a unique ID number just like a vin number is.

Here in Utah, you can go to the DMV, they will issue you a custom metal VIN with an adhesive back. Take the sled w/ the new VIN and paperwork to a police officer, he will double check #'s, sign and turn it in.

I think somewhere along the way they double check the old VIN to make sure its not stolen.
