SUVs for the wife?

They are different vehicles for different needs. Tahoe doesn't compare in ride, quietness, finish. Enclave can't tow near what that a Yukon/Tahoe can and it won't be a real 4x4.

Enclave is competing against Lexus, BMW, Mercedes and Acura.

We have an 08 Yukon SLT with the 5.3. It's been a nice vehicle with lots of versatility and probably gets the best fuel mileage for vehicles that large. Try to find a 2009 or newer because the 6 speed tranny is better. Resale value is great, too.

I am waiting for GM to drop their 4.5L Duramax in the new Suburban. I sure wish they'd hurry because I want a bigger SUV with lots of torque that can tow the boat with decent mileage and haul my kids and all their crap.

One like this one would be good........................

My wife bought a GMC Terrain and we love it. It doesnt have third row seating but the back seat does slide forward and back, so lots of room for car seats. Good cargo space and lots of power. Very well equipped for a base model @ 30G's

Did you get the V6 or straight 4?

Wife drives a 2012 GMC Acadia Denali version...pretty sweet vehicle if you ask me!!

She gets average 17-18 driving to work about 15 miles which is half highway and half through town. We get about 22-23 when we take it on a long haul back to SD or ND.

Wish it had some of the options the 2013 now has, but it's got all the fancy stuff that we need I guess.

Price is a bit ridiculous on these Denali versions, but we plan on keeping it until the warranty is up and probably longer so I always buy into the thought "buy what you want once and be done with it".

After looking at and driving them all, we went with a Pilot Touring. Still don't like the looks, but the interior layout, comfort, room, and mileage was too good to pass up. We just couldn't get excited about anything else after spending some time in the Pilot.

My wife gets 21-22 mpg on her 5-6 mile commute, I get 26-27 if I drive it on my 30 mile commute.

Our touring with all the bells and whistles was just under 37k, can't really beat that price. An Acadia Denali is what 50k or more?

Towing capacity isn't great, but it does have a tranny cooler - I doubt you get that with any of the other options.

No offense, but I'm pretty sure a Pilot doesn't have the features a Denali Acadia has. Maybe more along the lines of a mid grade Acadia which is priced around the same as your Pilot.

I have a truck so if I had the coin for my wife it would be the diesel Q7. But priced the way I want it puts it at $70k! So the more reasonable vehicle would be the Denali Acadia. It's not a primary towing vehicle but it would tow a two place with a couple sleds. Better vehicle for running around town with our little one. Smooth ride, awesome features, a little better MPGs than the Yukon sized SUV's. You can get a loaded Acadia for a descent price too.

Maybe not, but looking at the option list, I don't see anything work 10k, but that's just me. I don't need parking assist or wood trim on the steering wheel.

The Pilot's current technology is a bit lacking compared to the 2013 denali, but I'm hesitant to jump into a first year vehicle with all the new gadgets.

I don't think it's by any means the best rig out there, but it's a good option that's worth a look.

The technology in the Acadia has been out for over three years(interlink). Honda doesn't offer air conditioned seats, remote vehicle start, an sort of onstar system, and no roadside assistance. Starting in 14 you will also get included maintenance on the GMC. Fit and finish isn't as good IMHO.

I sell Honda as well, pilot has good bang for the buck but lacks some features. They still use a 5 speed and I feel that motor is a little lacking. They do have great reliability and hold value well.

Dodge Durrango. Wife currently has a 2013 Acadia Denalli. The exterior is sweet one of the coolest looking cars on the road. Coming from a 2011 Dodge 1500 Longhorn the GMC's features are lacking. We ordered the Acadia and recieved it in March and as soon as we can order a new Durango we are ordering it. My brother sells both.Prior to the Dodge truck she had we always had Yukon's or Denalli's

I have a 2013 Durango RT Blacktop Edition and absolutely love it. GF has a 2010 Yukon Denali and after driving my Durango she wants mine. Has 3rd row seating with surprising room (even when 3rd row is up). Has the Hemi, tows 7500 lbs, I am averaging 18.1 mpg (darn impressive for an AWD V8). My work rig is a 2012 Ford Explorer and it is nice as well, but the Durango is a much nicer vehicle in nearly every way. Everyone who rides in it is super impressed, and I got it for under $40K with many upgrades over the standard RT package.

On the Acadia we dont like that the second row seats arent heated, that you cant scrole through all the satellite radio chanels from the steering wheel only your preset's. Dont like the huge sunroof and the fabric cover. No heated steering wheel. You lose sat signal were the dodge didnt. The fuel mileage is not any better then we got with her hemi. The blue tooth sucks cant understand what she is saying when she calls.Other than that it is a nice car.She really misses her truck we got rid of it because we travel lots with our son for sports, the Acadia drives nice and rides nice its just harder to operate. I have always been a GM guy but my last 3 trucks have been Dodges and until Gm comes out with something that is new not just refreshed I'll stay with Dodge.

You can't beat the looks of an Acadia Denali - Pearl White when it's spiffed up;)

But it takes all kinds to make the world go around!!

Agreed about the 2nd row lack of heat. We install aftermarket for that but it should be available for a Denali. Stupid it is not.

Sunroof, the fabric cover is actually mesh/net. It is meant so you can leave the sunroof open and get fresh air, close the cover and block out the sun

Heated steering wheel I don't understand but I wouldn't get rid of a vehicle because it didn't have one.

I'd imagine the blue tooth bit is a salesman problem. It has a learning curve and your sales guy should have taught you how to use it. My delivery for an Acadia is about an hour and a half. It could be longer but people get information overload after that. If you would like pm me and I can give you some pointers on how to properly use the Bluetooth and voice controls.

Voice controls: meant to replace turning channel through channel. You can also sell category and it will show you all the channels that have: rock, country, sports Etc. or whatever you prefer.

We are shopping around for a replacement for our 2001 Sequoia. Don't need all the room and want something smaller.

Surprised me when I read the Acadia has a larger turning radius than a Yukon.

Looking at the Acadia, Traverse, going to see the Murano and I'm going to look into the Durango too. Like the Rav4 but afraid that is a little too small but haven't sat in one yet.

Dealer here said they sell lots more Acadia than the Traverse. Not sure why, haven't looked at them close enough to form our own opinion.

I can't say why, but I find the Acadia & Enclave considerably more appealing than the Traverse.
The Traverse just seems bland. Does that make sense?

I drove the Traverse as well...I think if you drive the Traverse and the Acadia back-to-back you will see why many prefer the GMC!

Pecking order and pricing order is certainly:
-Traverse
-Acadia
-enclave

Each one has better fit, finish, options, than the prior. Cost is a little more as well. Less money difference on the high end between Acadia and enclave.
The Traverse will depreciate faster because there is a ton of them in the rental market.

For small SUV similar to the Rav 4 look at the Terrain with the V6 motor. I'm not a fan of it with the 4 cylinder.

We looked at the Explorer, Acadia Denali, Durango, Highlander, Acadia, Terrain Denali, Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit v6 and considered the Murano. We even looked at the Rav4 and liked it, but it was a tad small, especially on the front passenger seating knee room for me, but I'm 6'3".

Since it is for the wife, she had final choice and went with the Jeep Summit, 2014. The only thing I didn't rate really well for my personal comfort was the front seats as I felt the side seat pan "bolsters" put too much pressure on my legs/hips but otherwise it is very nice, as well it should be for the price. Ouch.

Really like the adaptive cruise control, which we've never had before, among all the other features.

Another neat thing is the height adjustment. The vehicle can be raised around 3.5". (push of a button)

I hate to think what repair costs might be once out of warranty but won't worry about that for 3 more years.

Another apparently sweet thing is the oil filter which is cartridge type accessed from the top. It looks really easy to change the filter. I'm just hoping if the oil runs out it is funneled to the bottom, but I'm thinking there won't be any to worry about as it appears to be an upright cartridge and the cap is on top and hopefully once is is loosened and lets a little air in the oil drains back into motor.

Another sweet thing - with the suspension in the high position, I can roll underneath on the creeper without a problem, even the front.
