Supercharger or turbo?

Yamaha finally offers something I want and now I don't know which option is best for me. What is the pros and cons of each one?

What kind of riding do you do? By far way more turbo's in the mountains than superchargers from what I have seen.

I'm kind of surprised who Yamaha has chose for turbo suppliers? If I had to guess who would be supplying turbo kits, I would have guessed MCX?:face-icon-small-con

While this may be a really strange reason to make a choice, next summer I will probably install the super charger.

Why?

Because i don't want to loose any of that space I just recovered beneath my seat from the new under the tunnel exhaust system.

Wasn't there a graph posted just last week comparing horsepower output per RPM for the new Turbo vs. Supercharger??

I know I saw the graph, but I can't find it now.

Clearly showed the Turbo wining until the engine came close to max rpm where the supercharger finally overtook the power curve.

I think that boost is a power that should be earned. Get some seat time and experience first. You been riding just half a season, right? If you don't have the experience, boost will either get you hurt, killed or just in a heap of more trouble than before.

And that is why I have NOT done anything to my engine, and why I have no desire to install a monster system pushing 15-20+ lbs of boost either...

8-10lbs will be just fine next year.

You go do it Chris. the supercharger is the way to go. I rode a friend of mine in WY and it was amazing and fun and silly powerful. If you are gonna do it get a hold of Mack or Darrin over at MPI and have them work out a kit for you. Cause you will definately not want that kit. cause you cant upgrade it easily. If you talk to them they will sell ya the intercooler also so when you do the install that will be in and ready to go if you want to run a different sprocket for more boost. 135 hp is not enough for hill climbing and shootin through the trees.

mmmm, disagree. I had maybe 15 rides in before I boosted. I am still by no means a good rider, but I am having way more fun, and I mean WAY more fun than none boosted rides. none boosted sleds can get you hurt, killed and in trouble. its your choice which sled you want to have that happen on. If you like HP and you like sledding, and you can afford to boost I dont see any reason not to. my boosted Nytro has made me a way better rider faster than if it wasnt boosted. :face-icon-small-coo
