summit x 670 brake light kills engine....WTF

hey guys,my girl has a 99 summit x 670, when you hit the brake it will kill the motor like you hit the kill switch, funny thing is if you let of the brake before it dies and let it run it wont rev up. Also if you hold the brake long enough to kill the engine it stalls and then has a big backfire in the exhaust, like the spark came back right at the last moment. ANY IDEAS???

Does the brake light turn on? Could be a short freaking out the computer.

Yes the brake light does turn on, seems to be bright, looks normal

The little switch thats located up in behind the brake lever has two wires runnin to it and if one of those break loose from thier solder allowing one to touch the other then when the brake is applied it will short .. Also if the harness that runs under the seat has worn thru in a spot this will short and cause the same thing.... Check the solder on the sending unit on the master cylinder an if that looks good take the seat off and unplug that harness at the feul tank.

I have an 01 summit 151 I put a rack on the back and installed aftermarket tail light actually on the rack when I plugged in the new light there was a small piece of wire hanging and it grounded out. you definetly have a wiring problem.
