Summit REV???

Ok heres the story. I have been out of snowmobiling for about 10 years, busy with life and riding dirtbikes. The last sled I had was a XLT RMK, and a lot has changed in that time, when i stopped 700s were big sleds(yeah its been that long). Its time to get back into sledding. I dont want to shell out a lot of cash, i might be crashing a lot. How do the REV chassis Summits compare with the newer sleds? I live an hour from Togwotee and really want to take advantage of it. thanks guys.

I can ride any chassis I want and my favorite is the 07 REV.Other years are great also just a bit less power

The REV chassis was the first "rider forward " design that all others tried to copy. I prefer mine over the XP which is even more rider forward. Relatively lite weight of 460#. Any 800 with more than 3,000 miles will need a top end as the piston locator pins fail and you could loose an engine.

The best REV was 06 (best track)--be careful of the 07 REV and 08 XP as they had crank issues which may have been fixed during their warranty--maybe not.

Polaris 800's had many more CFI and crank problems right up to 2010.

If you want bullet proof, go for a 600 as they have very few problems and still put out 120+ hp and are easier to ride.

I'd say any 800 Doo with over 3k needs a complete rebuild as they are prone to lose lower rod bearings.
2006 is definately the best year, but everyone knows that so prices might confuse you when looking at used.
THE Rev to buy would be a '07 X package or XRS with a updated motor, clutches and a different track than the Challenger Lite. Those 3 updates(big ones I know) and that is the pinnacle of the Rev design. 2006 was the best stock sled period. Track motor and clutches were fubar'd when we entered model year 2007. But '06 was solid!

I would not hesitate to buy a 600 Rev or a 700 Polaris IQ for one second. Good power like stated (120-130hp) and solid machines. Good luck and welcome back to the sport!

Thanks for the help guys. I have no problem rebuilding an engine, after doing 4 stroke motors on my dirt bikes a 2 stroke will be fun. I was planning on a rebuild on whatever I buy. I have been thinking a 600 would be ok as i dont need to be the highest guy on the hill, but power is always fun.

One correction. The 07 adren 144" has the great powdermax track and not the challenger lite. The 07 can be line bored by BJ for about $200 this will bring it to the 09 spec. Read DJ's site about 07 clutch bushings to fix the temperamental tra 7 clutch.

didn't all adren's have powdermax tracks? And the X's was your choice, the XRS was the only one that didn't give you a choice......pretty sure that's how it went. I sold enough I should remember these things! Haha
