Bought an 03 900 write off super cheap and decided to turn it in to an m series sled since I had a ton of old parts sitting around.Nothing fit at all but in the end I think it turned out ok.pictures 499.jpg

I built this just for a spare sled when I go to the hills. Total cost (not counting labor) was less then 2000 canadian. Overall a very cheap neat and fun build.

Looks very similar as my project sled I've been building for years...
I used older motor and moved it as far back I could. Also I used DD and DIY suspension. 900 based engine would rock!

did you use the mountain cat tunnel and the M chassis bulkhead?
I can see how to make the rest work but the bulk head looks like a mountain cat with a chain case?

Looks awsome!

I used an 04 king cat bulkhead and a 162 tunnel cut down to a 153 since I had a 153 3 pitch track and my old 07 m 1000 skid laying around. A set of 04 440 sno pro mod external drivers worked well also. This whole sled was built with pieces that I had laying around. My only other expenses were some sno eliminators and I also put new bottom rod bearings in and trued and welded the crank.

Im impressed,

But......becuse theres always a but........moving from a laydown motor is going to throw off the handeling !

I'm not sure you quite understand. It's got the stock mountain cat front suspension and motor, so it should handle like a mountain cat, but looks like an M. Should handle fairly well, but a bit differently from an M for sure. Don't see what the issue you're trying to point out is...

Very cool! First off.:cool:

Second - Very interesting handle bar setup there!:eek:

Third - What do you have holding the steering post? Cant see any support to it.:confused:

Cheers on the build, should be a real fun sled!:beer;

Kind of what I was getting at. It's a mountain cat chassis that looks like an m. Do different plastics change the handling?

Bar riser is a custom made unit by tom at Motts machining in edmonton alberta. Steering post is bolted to the tank like the m series is and then there is some alluminum braces angled down from each side to make it fairly solid. Also plan on putting this thing on the scale to compare with a buddies 03 159 mountain cat.
