Yes....I know, boring topic but what the heck.

So who is storing their M1100T with a fresh oil change for summer layup?

The thought recently crossed my mind as Easter is behind us; grooming funds have dried up, causing some snoparks to close for the year...

Usually with my Muscle Cars and Boat, I do an oil change before winter storage after a summer of use so the motors, bearings, etc. can hibernate in fresh, non-polluted oil...

But this M1100T I have, has under 200 miles still...

On the fence, so the topic is out there....

Nice reminder to my M1100T peeps as well.
Never know when that oil filter could go on back order.:face-icon-small-sho

The manual says to change during prep for storage, so I did mine a couple days ago. It probably doesn't matter too much if there is such variation in what people do.

I have always subscribed to the school that says "Put your sled away with fresh oil, and get the contaminated oil out so it does not sit in the combustion acid byproducts while it is in storage"

Same with the suspension grease............... Get the water out of the shafts before the heat of summer kicks in........

On the othr hand, I do not subscribe to the "you gotta fog your cylinders" school.....

Never fogged, never had any issues.......

Is there no concern of introduction of moisture during storage?

I always thought you wanted to store as is, then change before you ride.
