Stupid trailer tricks. :)

Ok, can anyone top my stupidity when it comes to my enclosed trailer? Just about every ride, I say " this is why I don't have nice things" when it comes to the trailer. Aside from the fact that sometimes I need to cross ditches and such with it to get to late season snow, I have done some good ones.....
1) Couple of years ago, my bud dude (here on SW) and I were out scouting for some late season snow, I dragged the trailer through a lake on the trail that had a sharp ice ledge coming out, the axle end broke off, shot up and ripped the plywood loose from a section of floor, then the wheel came back down, got run over by the second wheel and shot the trailer up in the air a bit. (dude has a video from behind, lol.)
2) Going up to find late season snow, I was running over snowbanks at speed to not get stuck (towing with lifted Excursion), I hit one hard and trailer came off the ball, hanging by the chains, pain to get it stopped. Luckily the V-nose didn't go through the SUV back window. I had left town and drove 10 miles plus with a 2 5/16 hitch on a 2" ball.
3) I left my house to go riding, drove 1/4 miles through my neighborhood, as I was pulling up to the highway guys in the highway were waving their hands at me all crazy, then the guy behind me drove up beside me in the wrong lane to tell me that my rear ramp was down. :)
4) A few months ago we moved, I had hooked up the trailer to take a load to the new house, started out the driveway and heard strange noises so I got out and looked. I had forgotten to pull the jack foot up and left a nice 4" trench through the lawn and gravel driveway.
5) I will let the picture speak for itself.

Lol, I am just very hard on certain things. It's funny, I have never totalled a sled, they always look new when I sell them, but my vehicles, not so much.....

If that is all with the same trailer, buy that brand the next time!! Cus that this has been threw hell and back lol and none of that has happened to me but as much as I hate this saying "**** happens"

True. I got that trailer on a trade 3-4 years ago, with a NICE 06 Summit X with 350 miles and a beat 99 RMK for $8000. I drove to Utah to get it, after parting the sleds it was basically a free trailer. But it was beat when I got it, and I haven't been nice to it. It did get new brakes all around a couple years ago, but I never take it further than 15 miles or so.

I can picture people waving and just waving back, thinking they really liked the rig, and how nice they are. LOL

One time we were pulling a 2 place open back from WY on I80 at night. I think we had a few trucks flash their lights at us before we realized they were trying to tell us something and not just being nice. We had blown a tire and sparks were flying off the rim.

Another time we came off the mtn and into Laramie. 35 miles. Upon inspection, we found that the sleds were not tied down at all, and the trailer tilt bolt down plate was not secured so the trailer could have tilted up at any time.

Yeah it had snowed about a foot over night and that road hadn't been plowed. It's a sharp turn at the bottom and a little steeper than it looks. The truck didn't have the best tires either. Took about 3-4 hours to get it out with a dozen and a snatch block.

Ouch. I bought my new to me 05 F350 a couple years ago, towed an enclosed up to Brundage to ride, early season. One of those days where the snow was almost rain and it was slick as balls. Stupid Michelin Ford tires. I got up there, then stopped, then had to back up, it was out of control sliding backwards, I was lucky to get some traction off the side of the road. Freaked me out. Tires came off and lift went on that week. :)

The first post made me laugh a lil' cuz we all seem to do stupid chit from time to time! Maybe your buddy could buy one of those hitch locks for the trailer but not give you the key???

Quick fix for a damaged V-nose......Hammer and dolly it flat then cover with diamond plate aluminum. Caulk the edges or you will get sand between the two pieces from road slop in the winter. Eric

when my current f150 was new in 12 I went to load a sled in my clam . well did not latch down hitch so got a real nice dent in the tail gate. took 2 yr to fix guess what I did like 25 days after new tail gate yep :frusty::frusty: same thing to new gate .now I just get to remember what a dumb *** I am like 3 or 4 times a day until a week before I trade it in

Are you looking for sympathy, feed back, or for us to bust your chops?

Lol

I'll bet we could do all three pretty easily.

Haha
