stumped! clutching stage 2 sc nitro help!!!

Hey guys, I cant figure this out, when im starting to climb it overrevs instantly, then during the climb im losing rpm badly. i can set it so it overrevs terribly at bottom but will hold rpms on climb but i know its wrong.

have the fuel upgrade, 162 2.5 mountain extreme, and my o2 sensor tells me my fuel is close to perfect. I've tried three different types of weights, and different rivets in different positions on all types of weights, have shockwave helix, and have tried two different secondary springs in multiple positions (still not sure how the different numbers work) im just thinkin it isn't backshifting properly no matter where i put the shockwave.

anyone else have this problem, and if your not, what clutching setup are you running. primary spring, secondary spring, weights (rivits) and twist on the secondary spring. god man this is drivin me nuts!

tyler

I had a similar problem with my tapex

I ended up loading the heal of my weight's then I used the middle spot to hit my rpm range

so....

you guys figure its a weight issue? I've tried 3 different brands of weights with similar results. best ones so far bring me back to stock weights with 4.5 gram rivits in the heel and i know this part doesn't make sense, but i put 4.5g in the center hole. lost rpm in climb. dropped the center hole to 2.5g rivits and it didn't change rpm loss in climb but overreved worse at bottom. i think its a backshifting problem but have limited experience with yami clutching.

more ideas anyone?

Did you change your clutch rolers?? I'm also running stock weights with 4.5 in heel and 3.6 in the center hole. 74 grams total per weight. Shockwave 1 full turn out. Max is two turns out or you need to take weight off a little and go all the way in and start fresh again. you need more weight to stop over reving at the start then a shallower angle on the helix will let it stay at the proper rpm range. I am trying Dalton weights this year and see what happens. How much boost are you and did you change your primary spring?

14.5 rollers in the primary, about 1 1/2 turns out on helix 100-110 twist on stock spring, that would be 9-1 or 9-2, and adjust your primary wieght from there, abu-00 yamaha wieghts work good. you will want a more aggressive wieght than stock. you will not need as much wieght with the 14.5 rollers but you will get alot more belt pressure which you need.

i'm set about the same

i do have larger rollers in my primary, and a lighter primary spring than stock. started with a heavier spring than stock in secondary and now have even a stiffer one in plus have tried the stiffest torque setting on that spring. my shockwave is screwed right in all the time and still overrevs at the bottom and loses rpm up the hill even when i had 4.5 gram rivets in both the inner and middle holes on stock weights. tried dalton weights and they did seem a little better, i think i'll try them again with more weight in the heel and less in the next hole from the rollers. so u guys dont think its a backshifting problem, its a weight issue or more of a placement of weight....4.5 is the heaviest rivits i can get for the stock weights. should i try a stiffer spring in the primary?

who is running a stage 2 sc. would you mind sharing your setup?

thanks for the responses, i will call some pro's tomorrow also

thanks

you posted while i was posting, i'll try that setup and see how she rips.

thanks for your help.

what are some other stage 2 sc guys doing for clutching?

stay with the lighter spring in the primary, if you don,t have abu-00,s the daltons should work, set your shock wave at about 1 1/4- 1 1/2 turns out, and run alot of side pressure which ever spring you are using, the 14.5 rollers are a must for forced induction, adjust wieght from there I like alot in the heel then even it out across the mid and tip.

You do need to go back to the stock spring. What profile weight are you using? 8bu-00 or 8bu-10 or 8fs? What elevation are you riding? What boost are you trying to run?

I would talk to both Hartman and Allen at Timbersled. I have talked to both of them about super's and they both seem to know the setup's to make them run.

I think I figured out your problem. You never changed the roller's to the SMALLER ones(14.5) :eek::eek:Stock I think are (16.5). You need to change these it is a must or you will hit the rev limiter every time you pin the throttle. Then my primary spring is the silver/blue/silver and my secondary spring in stock black one. A few friends are running the sno pro lime green cat spring in there's but I have not seem them go yet. My weight are 74 grams each so you can figure yours out and see if we are close or not.I'm running a modified stage 2 s/c running 12lbs of boost. I hope this helped you out. Trav:D:beer;

sorry,

have to do more research on my own settings. the dealer set up initial clutching and mentioned they changed the rollers. didn't look into it to see if they were bigger or smaller, just assumed for some reason they were bigger. ill look into it, thanks alot for your help so far, i'll try a few changes and try it out on sunday in valemount hopefully.

thanks, tyler

Just curious how many lbs of boost you running? Where do you live? Are you sure valemount is ready??? We can't wait to ride might have to take a road trip. Hope your clutch works for you now and have a great ride.

hi there

yes i think even if you drove 6 hours, valemount would still be a thumbs up if it was nice n sunny out. all the rocks aren't covered, and the trails aren't groomed but you can carve and pick a line to pull some big climbs. we had to be a little careful where we stopped or we risked being stuck taking off too fast. but it isn't 3 feet of beautiful powder either. some friends are coming back from there tonight said the weather was poor but the snow was good. so i think its safe to say the snow is good for sledding. i enjoyed it on wednesday alot more than most of the spring riding i have done.

stage 2 is supposed to be 15 lbs of boost but have no guage. with sc it can't vary so as long as the pully's and rpm's are correct it should produce the same boost every time. at elevation it may drop to 14 or so they say. I have ordered a boost guage to verify what i was told when i bought it and maybe help in my tuning and clutching. pully's are 33 on crank and 23 on blower.

just checked and they did install the 14.5 rollers. i just installed the factory primary spring which is stiffer than what was in there. and put the dalton's back in. have friends going to allen creek tomorrow. then im meeting them tomorrow night there to ride sunday to try tune some more. i'll update here as soon as i hear from them tomorrow afternoon.

clutching

try eric at racin station in idaho or teton motorsports. he sent me a stage 3 sc nytro and it had zero clutching issues, no over rev and pulled 8500 rpm. seems to have them fiquered.

and i live in edson, ab

Thanks can't wait to see how your trip went!! You make me want to load up and hit the highway though!!! Ichy thumb. Hope you have a great time. I'm in G.P so we could easily head your direction. We might have to, to get some riding in. Not alot of snow where we ride yet.
