Studding the stock track on '11 Pro RMK

Have another question for you Rob, while your throwing you yrs of wisdom around on this particular subject.

would this track mod work the same behind the Jacks 900? or do I need to go with a diffrent track all together?

Picture #2 is what I was thinking. I just didn't know if it would work in the series 5.1. I don't really want the Assault track because I don't want stiffer, I just want some traction for getting up the icy chute we have here!!

pic 2 is a 5.1 cut down... IMO, the 5.1 is a better track to do this mod to than an assault track. Why? because i have been running the assault track for a few months and i REALY miss my old 5.1 i had under my 09 dragon mod sled. Not that the assault isn't a bad track, it if i had the funds to do it, i would swap my cfi2 for a cfi4 and run my set up i had on my dragon. Simple SLP twin pipes, power addiction/ fastrax head, fastrax clutching, power commander with my own tunes... that was one mean running sled. my pro runs good, but not AMAZING.

Now Suitcase since there isn't a 900 :face-icon-small-win yet how would I know?:becky::becky::becky:

ps you just do what ever Jack tells you to do...keep everyone happy

O.K O.K not yet. Im talking hypothetically :becky:! Ill see what he has to say on Fri. Im not wanting to by a new track. Im in it 17000. 00 already with no 900. I know this has been thread to death, but I, among others value your opinion.

Ouch I should have referred to the "experts" prior to wrecking all of these tracks! How on earth do all my sleds even get through the snow? A Christmas miracle!

OK apparently my original response was not read all that thoroughly. I completely condone adding the Hex head carbide traction screws, to accomplish traction. Obviously this works. This has been done on Hillclimb sleds for years. What I am trying to understand, is why you would contersink screws into the lugs, just to stiffen the lugs. "However, countersinking screws into all the lugs, just for the purpose of stiffening them seems crazy to me."

Maybe I misunderstood the original question that was posed by the thread.

Captcolby, to get up the occasional Icy chute, Traction screws in your 5.1 track, will work fine. Rob's advice on this is very thorough and good.

Rob, I was not trying to discredit your track mod system. Mainly I was trying to answer the question as best I understood it. Wasnt sure what he was trying to accomplish. Got confused by the whole part of people trying to "stiffen" the lugs.

Thanks for the input. Is there a certain brand of screws? I know I want carbide tips but any thing else to look for?

You are correct. I am not trying to stiffen the track, just get some traction for the chute here.

Thanks again to everyone!
