Stuck Throttle on 07 Rev

Had the throttle stick wide open yesterday, luckily deep snow and a fast hand enabled me to stop the sled before it kissed the trees! Anyone else had this problem on their Rev? It wasn't snow/ice buildup on the cable and the carb warmers were on. As long as I blipped the throttle all the time it wouldn't stick but when held wide open it would.......Sherm

last weekend i had the same thing happen to me, carb warmers on but even so its pretty cold out, was about -20 somthing last sunday.

i was climbing and it stuck on me, got stuck and opened the side pannel and poked at the carb spring and it let loose. when its so cold and in deep fresh like we have now there cant be much heat going through the carbs.

It's gotta be a 'Doo thing...

Heard all the stories, never had a problem....until last weekend. Both my '08 XP AND my buddies '09 XP had sticky throttles all day. Same thing, it always seemed to happen after some "wide-open" riding. You would let off after a pull, and the sled would act like it was still 1/4 throttle. Just like Sherm, we ended up riding "blippin" the throttles. Carb heaters on or off, didn't really seem to make a difference. There was no ice around the throttle block or cable, and temps were around 15-20, with about 2-3" fresh dry powder.

After my ride, I was going over the sled in the shop. I don't remember why, but I pulled the airbox. There was quite a bit ice/water in it. I am wondering, if powder is getting into the airbox, melting, and getting ingested into the carbs, creating a mild momentary carb icing, not allowing the slides to close. Plausible? Today when I was working on my sled, I made sure that the airbox was fully installed and locked into place, and hooked up solidly to the intake. Maybe I was careless and didn't have it fully locked in before, possibly ingesting the powder.

Scary. I didn't like it one bit....

I've never had the problem before this either but, I haven't been sledding in
-25 weather before either! Mine stuck wide open the first time and then half open a couple more times after that. The one time I dicked around with the throttle lever on the carb and closed it by hand, it was very stiff to move to the closed position. We had a mechanic with us and he said it could be the grease they use as lube on the shaft that goes into the carb and that the grease could "freeze" up from the cold weather. I guess we'll just have to sit at home until it warms up!! Ya, right! Sherm

Super Lube Multi Purpose Grease part # 41150

My throttle stuck last season while riding in sub-zero temps ... When I got home I ended pulling the cable and cleaning out the sheath as well as the splitter with Brakleen, drying it all out completely and using a marine grade, waterproof, non-freezable grease. I haven't had any problems since. Luckily this cured the problem since my carb heaters are disconnected so I could mount the sending unit of my Cyberdyne gauge in the head where the carb heater line exited. It's a real PITA to do but it's definitely better than a stuck throttle ... having a big syringe helped a lot to inject the grease. Also another great reason to wear the teather ... runaway sled in the trees is never a good deal  Here's the product I used but I'm sure there are many others available with similar qualities. Hope this info helps.

same thing was happening to my 07 i would let off and she would still keep goin ad 6000 rpm

same same

:( I have had this happen to mee too this year on several rides in cold conditions. It seems to kinda stick at about 1/4 throttle and I am forced to "blip" the throttle constantly to avoid it or be ready to pile on the brake. Carb heaters on and prefilters galore, but still happens. I did find a torn out boot that I need to replace soooo this might be the culprit who has let the bad man under the hood?

my o9 stick 1/4 throttle and i haven't even had mine in the powder yet. it has 10 miles on it. WTF

Mine stuck for the first time too- It was -5 outside and I had left the sled on my sleddeck uncovered for a couple of days after a ride. Was a bit of a thrill backing off the truck.. I think mine was the throttle cable sticking as you could pull the thumb throttle out and the motor would slow down.

I totalled my 04 rev that way, (back in 04). happened once earlier that day... after helping somebody get their sled out of super deep powder I just pulled the starter and it took off and t boned the other sled I just helped for 45 minutes. later it the day it stuck wide open, ended up taking 5 of us to get it out the next day, the clutches collided in the tree impact and it made quite a mess. i was thrown off the back and it kept going full throttle. luckily insurance covered it all, only 580 miles on it at the time. i have had a few sleds since then. i haven't had any issues with the 08, but I got that at the end of last year. never did find out what the problem was.

i had an 07 rev without problems and never any issues with the RMK's I have had.

you don't have a lefty do you, i have heard many stories about that getting stuck and causing problems.
