Stuck Clutch

Hey guys,

Im really struggling with getting my primary clutch off of my 07 summit x. First I just tried the puller, and that didn't work. Then I tried putting the heat gun to it, and that didn't work. Then I found online that boiling water works, and tried that. It made the clutch itself come off, but it just came off the inner sheave, the inside face of the clutch is still on the shaft. Next I tried putting grease inside the shaft since that worked once on my old King Cat and not even that got it off. What the hell??? If I turn the puller any harder its gonna snap off, and I tried a propane torch but I didn't want to get it so hot that it got to the point of wreaking the chrome plating. What else can I do?

did you spray it down with penetrating oil? Not WD=40, something like Liquid Wrench, PB Blaster, Kroil. Let it soak in overnight and try it again.

You could also tap it with a dead blow hammer. Sounds like it's rusted in place. As you mentioned, put the pulley puller away.

P.S. When you filled the clutch bolt hole w/ boiling water did you wrap the clutch bolt with teflon tape before you tightened it down? Normally, this method is pretty reliable.

Lay the sled on its side. Put water in the cavity, wrap your puller threads with 4-5 wraps of teflon pipe tape, thread it in and it will hydraulic off as long as the threads seal. It usually pops before the puller even bottoms against the crank.
Make sure your puller isn't bent.

Sweet, I think I can pound the end of the puller straight though. I'll give it a shot with the water and Teflon tape.
