Stock track and drivers

I have a question for all those turbo guys. I am building a bd turbo d8 155" this summer. As I start building it I am realizing how expensive its going to get. I keep learning more parts that I need to get. How many are running the stock track and drivers. I was told that under boost I may start having a problem with my track starting to ratchet and I need to get anti-ratchet drivers. Then I was going to get them I was told that I need to cut my rails. If I cut my rails I need to get a stab kit. If I just run the stock track and driver and keep my track properly adjusted will I be okay. I plan on running 6-10 lbs boost. Thanks

As long as you haven't ratcheted your track before and keep it properly tensioned, it should be ok for low boost. I have the stock track and drivers on mine. Now, tomorrow I get to install avids on my 600 because the stock track was previously damaged by ratcheting and now won't stop unless it's banjo tight.

Both my boys are running the same sled your building. 1 Dragon single ply, 1 RMK 2 ply. I have Avids and anti-stab kits on the shelf for both as soon as needed. So far not needed. We keep the tension correct and ride. They run 6-10 psi. My suggestion would be to run 'em as long as you can. Good luck and congrats on boost. EW

Thanks

Thanks guys for the info. I am excited to be running boost next year! Kind of gives me something to look forward to. I will just keep my track properly adjusted and run the track and drivers stock for next year. Thanks for the input.

I have a 2007 d7 rmk and am turboing it this summer as well. I am not a 100 % sure but in 2008 did they have a extravert setup on the drive shaft in the center? Mine does not have it and I have ratcheted the track before so what I am wondering is should I go to a stock 08 or newer driveshaft or do the work to go with extraverts? Thanks

Yes, 2008 does have the extraverts. Mine is a 2008 and it has them in the center. I was told they don't help much with ratching though. I was told that I need to change my drivers out to something like and avid driver. I was told if I do that I should also get an anti-stab kit also. If I am going to do that I might as well do a drop and roll kit so I can put a different track. If I am going to change the track I might as well change the skid. If I am going to change the skid I might as well change the shocks. As you can see things add us really quick. So it was recommend to me by justin, code red, just to tighten my track up and run it that way it is for awhile. He said I should be okay, but if it does ratched to change out the drivers right away or I will break stuff. But he did say if you have had problems with it ratching, and you put a turbo on it, it is going to be a serious problem and you want to change your drivers out before.

I have an 07 d7. Two years ago i was running the 163 2 ply polaris track with avid drivers. At 13 pounds of boost i tore the track in half. It was heavy snow and ultimate traction, but when you climbing and the sled stops from the track bunching up around the drivers after it tears, Its not a fun day. Then you will wish you had the challenger extreme. just my 2 cents

That wasn't your torn track I found at St Helens with 5 port holes across all the way around was it? :D

big negative, i actually did that at stampede pass. and it was not ported had to cut it out with razor knife. cant leave any thing up there for those dang greeners to gripe about. U bring up a good point though anybody running boost do not port the track.:beer;
