Stock piling ammo

Talking about all people, not state, nor militia... I think you are making a poor argument, or at least are not clear at the point I am trying to make, or maybe I am not clear in the point I am trying to make..

How about if the First Amendment stated this...

"For purposes of taxes, the right of the people peaceably to assemble" Would you take that to mean that you can peaceable assemble to talk about taxes only, or that you have the right to peaceable assemble on anything..

Not sure if that is a good example or not, but I am going with it.

Some sort of command structure, maybe a uniform, I don't know... some guns and not much else.

No, your argument holds water. Many people, and legal scholars hold that it was intended for militias only, and the extreme fringe suggests that even the militias can't keep guns at home. That they must be locked up. Which makes no sense, since tyranny would just control the gun lockers.

Luckily, my argument is the argument that won the Supreme Court decision, District of Columbia vs. Heller, by only 5 to 4.

The Court based its reasoning on the following grounds:

* that the operative clause of the Second Amendment—"the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"—is controlling and refers to a pre-existing right of individuals to possess and carry personal weapons for self-defense and intrinsically for defense against tyranny, based on the bare meaning of the words, the usage of "the people" elsewhere in the Constitution, and historical materials on the clause's original public meaning;

The majority held that the constitution and bill or rights are written for the common man. That it says what it means, and should not be second guessed lightly.

I personally think that more people would die as a result of the loss of gun rights, than would ever die at the point of a gun. Stalin managed to kill 20 million citizens of the USSR. That is many orders of magnitude greater than the few people that die every day, un-deservedly, as the result of legal gun ownership. For, any anti-gun law, could not be proven to limit the use of guns that are already used illegal. I truly believe that the day we loss gun rights, this country is on a one way trip to destruction.

One can only hope that accountability for one's actions makes a comeback in this great country. I personally believe that lack of accountability is the root problem with our country right now ... no matter what the problem, it always seems to be someone ELSE at fault? Too much Dr. Phil, "you were wronged as a child, it's not your fault" BS has made a bunch of whiny finger-pointers out of so many in America ... makes me sad for the next generation :mad:

Exactly! ...and what is Dr Phil.... A LIBBY!!!!!!!!!!
