Stock piling ammo

I did an inventory on my ammo a week ago. I had 2500 rounds of .223 and 1800 of 7.62 X39. The UPS guy just came to my door after I ordered more. The poor bastage barely made it to the door! haha I got 2000 more rounds of .223 and 1260 more of the 7.62. Also got 500 rounds of 40 cal and 300 rounds of shotgun slugs. Come and get me Obama Nazi brown shirts! :D

I reload. I have 2k+ rounds for my "Dirty Harry" .44mag super black hawk. 2.5k for my Mini 14 (.223) 2k 12 gauge rounds (upland bird, and clay target, no steel because I don't have my charge bar currently) and a crate of .22 ammo for plinking.

I don't consider it stockpiling, I can go through that in a year just out having fun.

I used to re-load my deer rifle ammo (.270, 30-06) but that got too pricey, and I only use them once or twice a year, so spending a little more $ on a box of ammo doesn't bother me.

I reload too, but you can't reload this .223 and 7.62 cheaper than what I buy it for. I love the 44mag super black hawk, wish I wouldn't have sold mine. I have a couple crates of 22 ammo too....courtesy of the ATF along with an array of other. :D I am the same way regarding having fun....but I am going to be very conservative with it now. Tell me about how pricey it is too reload! UUGH, plus you can't find any powder! I have a 300 win mag and a 30-06....its painful.

Funny story actually. I didn't have to pay for the .223. I did a bunch of chores for my one of my dad's friends and in payment, he said I could have a day with his press'. I took that up. He had a room full of components, but for some reason, I decided to spend the day on .223. I guess it was because I had been shooting it a lot and figured I wasn't going to stop any time soon. So, I did a fair amount that day, and he gave me a carry-all of components to take home, so I finished up there.

I love my .44 mag. I have a lot of hunting loads, because the bullets were cheap when I was shopping. They were a little bit more $ than the little POS target loads, but I figured I might as well spend the extra money so I can hunt with it if I get the urge.

Nice! I would take him up on the day with the presses too! What do you hunt with the 44? Bear?

Every time I go to the store I try to pick up at least one box of ammo, but with the little one on the way I slowed down a bit.

That is a good idea....it really hurts buying all this at once....but then again you get the good deals when you buy bulk.

Yesterday my 12 year old wanted to go shoot the .22's (rifle and handgun) and the .357. I had a brick of .22 shells but only had 20 or so .357 shells so off to Walmart we go...THEY'RE OUT!!!! No .357 or .38 special shells.

I did find another store locally that sold them so I bough 3 boxes...might have to buy more.

My local Wal-Mart doesn't carry lead (Cowboy Rounds) .45 colt anymore. Only silver tipped, hollow points. $21.95 for 20 rounds. Off to the internet.

.223, I load and my girlfriend shoots. (M-15). She thinks she is Rambette with that thing. I am down in amo since I took her to the range. She wanted a Henry .45 BIG BOY For Valentines Day. Better than a set of stinkin diamond earrings I guess. Just don't make her mad.

But stocking up again. MPS, do you have a suggestion for good prices on amo?

I started stock piling the .223 and .22................or so I thought. I can see I'm waaayyy behind you guys. Guess I'll need to do some shopping.

Got a Weatherby .223 bolt and it's fun, but my buddy has his FFL and is now building me an AR-15. Didn't get all of the specs from him, but it will have a flat top for scope mount, heavy barrel, and a light pull trigger assembly. :D:beer;:D

So what's a good site for .223 rounds?

1600-223s and 500 or so 40 cal and numbers growing by the day. Loading up on silver bars and coins too. I think gold and silver are gonna gonna be going through the roof. My job this summer will be prospecting in the hills if nothing turns up soon.

Ive never understand why people tell what they have in storage. It gives reason for someone to look. Nobody knows what I have until the last moment. Keep it yer secret fellas. All the best serial killrs got caught because they had to tell someone.............

This is an honest ?...not being a smart azz...

What are you guys stock piling for? Is to get as much as possible before prices get higher? Do you really think you wont be able to buy ammo at all? Or are you actually concerned about some sort of civil uprising?

I keep a lot of ammo because, it gives me comfort, I do fear a civil uprising amongst a total economic breakdown, because it may get very expensive in the future, because it may get impossible in the future, because I can and because I just want to. No one knows where I live or even who I am so I am not worried about being robbed by someone on Snowest Forum :D

I just do it because I like to reload ammo. Its relaxing, economical, and fun. I don't see myself as a revolutionary, just a money saver with a neat way to pass time.
