just wondering if this is possible i thought the cranks were the same.. and the horsepower difference is small. found m8 top end with cylinders and pistons, and cant find m7... anyone done this.. i know they do the big bores what would be different.

The M7 and M8 are quite a bit different. The only parts that I know of that interchange are the wristpins and bearings. You can't put M8 cylinders on the M7 bottom end. You have to use M6 or M7 cylinders only.

i think you may have miss understood me... or maybe i you.. i located m8 top end cylinders, pistons, rings, etc.. so i would have the cylinders that fit the m8 pistons.. i just wanted to know if anyone has put the different cylinders on their m7, and ran entire m8 top end.. it seems like it should be possible.. if i am wrong please anyone correct me or let me know your experience.

Try that again......I wrote M7 top end the first time and meant M7 bottom end. M8 cylinders will not work with the M7 engine.

thanks for rephrasing... what would be the difference between a big bore 8 for the 7 and factory if you dont mind me asking.... do they mount up differently?

The cylinders themselves are different and the shape of the bottom of the cylinder, where it mates to the cases is different. We use the same pistons in our big bore M7 kits, but that is all that crosses over. The M8 routes the water path differently, has different hose hook ups, the head has a different shape and bolt pattern, and the power valves are different as well.

If I may ask, How much are you paying for the M8 parts? The reason I ask is, I have a new M7 motor sitting on my shelf. It's a stock spare for my TM7. I may consider selling you the top end. Dave 715-299-0392 (cell)

hi
you can send your cyl's out and have them bored to a m8 piston and do a differnt head (rkt ) and then it will be a m8 /m7 bb
but the m8 top end will not bolt onto a m7 crankcase
hope this helps
also the rkt m7 bb to m8 works really well
