stock head or aftermarket head

i have the new lower comp head that came with the update. I also had the Carls Cycle single ring "turbo pistons" put in at the time of the update. Seems to work great....great combination.

I ride from 11K to 13K and am using the 08 head with 13-1comp and had great bottom end running 13psi and no problems,,

never heard of turbo pistons, LOL, I would imagine you just have the 08 or 09 single ring pistons just trying to lessin the chance of a ring breaking which doesn't happen to often with stock pistons, but have more blow by.

Dennis D was able to run every race without blowing the motor which got him the points being consistant in the points chase. Thats good for our heads and got him the championship.

put the vibrator back in the drawer

Depends on what your ride style is and what alt you are at. A few have and are running a SLP high comp head that want the instantaneous throttle snap and are higher in elevation. But for most the stock 09 head works very well as well as the updated head.

These are not the 08 or 09 single ring pistons. My understanding is that they are specially manufactured for Carls. They are indeed different than the regular single ring pistons. I compared them side by side and the lands are much thicker. Might be worth a call to their service dept to get the information 208.853.5550

Cheers!

i am boosting my 900 3071 i was told to lower my compresion so i can run more boost on lower octain fuel. so should i mill the stock head or should i find a billet head

milling the head would raise your compression you need thicker base or head gaskets and since the head gaskets are o-rings i dont know how you would do that

if i mill the center of the domb twenty thousenths it will lower compresion , im not takeing from the whole head

i have never seen that done before. sounds risky to me but i dont know the technicals of it. as long as it doesnt adversely affect the combustion pattern. i also dont know how cost effective something like that would be compared to just buying a billet head that you know the design is good on
