Still a price issue for 2009 Ski Doos

I figure if they can afford to upgrade a new sled every year, then they can afford a one time drop on their sled value, if they cannot afford the jump, whats wrong with keeping that old 07 or 08 around? I just do not agree with other people having to pay for the chances we take when buying sleds in an unstable market.

Agreed, but in the same breath, I've quized customers who do upgrade every year or every two years about a price drop.....they all smile and say if I take their trade-in at last years market value they would do it, but if they had to take too big of a hit....they figured they'd ride em for 3 or 4 years so they could get their money out of them.....unfortunately, that means they won't be in to buy new like before. In the dealership I work at, we sell 50-70 sleds a year, at least 10 of those upgrade every year and another 10 or so the 2nd year. It just makes it hard for everyone.....I'm not sure what the answer is.....

Is there any way around the out of country warranty cheese?

on a side note . A friend of mine said burton and solomon along with a bunch of other companies told dealers in the states not to ship to canada with the big (30-40%) price difference on boards and outerwear

yeah its tricky for sure, you don't want to upset your loyal customers, but you also do not want to drive potential new customers away since its already a very expensive sport, but putting that aside I guess I look at it as more of a situation where I am resposible for my own purchases, I do not look to the company, society or whetever it may be to fix my loss, am I upset I bought a truck a couple years ago and lost big $$$ on trade in value because of the new pricing? sure, but I made the choice to buy it when the dollar was going up so fast, it sucks but unfortuneatly its no ones problem but my own, I knew the stakes going in, and lost.

I think most people that are asked about trade in value would give the same answer that you got, but I also think alot of those same people would be lining up for an 09 once snow started to fly, just to have the latest and greatest, money is important, sure, but so is having the newest technology to alot of the guys who upgrade every year, and speaking from experience, having the newest gadgets and technology seem to be more important to some guys than the money to pay for it :D

I hear there is some early buy rebates... to the tune 800ish but of course not on the sled im thinkin about ( the 50th anv.) If they add another 1000 to the rebate they would be close... not that that will ever happen. Who would want pricing to be fair and reasonable?????

This true but you can still drive down and bring this stuff back where you will get dinged with Dutie (MADE IN CHINA) There should be a price difference as US pay different duty rates then Canada.

As for sleds there are no duties I bought an 06 Summit 151" with 200miles on it for 7K US paid $800 in taxes and was all done. Recall letter was issued by the US dealer free of charge. This will continue !! wait until the 08's are on sale for 8K to 9K US still in the crate. The US dealers will still warranty your sleds.
As a Canadian retailer we have felt the dollar and have been fitting suppliers tooth and nail to get pricing in line and for Spring 08 we are at par -duties.

Canadian sled dealers have to make a stand. It is BRP setting the pricing but if Canadian dealers are not fighting then they are also to blame. For people who spent 13K and now their year old sled is only worth 8K that is reality they are going to have to take the hit eventually or ride it into the ground.

at least it's your sled that's worth 4000 less one year later and not your house 40000 less one year later and all because some *******s were allowed to give out ****ty loans.

If you guy,s from canada need one of us US guys to snow check a sled for you pm me and I would help you out. and when you need waranty work inside of canada you have to tell them you are on vacation from the us and riding in Canada .

wow

Just got off the phone with my dealer earlier and priced a 09 154X and it was $9200 US, electric start is one of the free options you can choose. So that is crazy to me. I don't know what the deal is there.

Where did you get that price from? The numbers I am getting are way off from that.

Just got the official pricelist and how cool is it that dealer cost is still more than US retail. WooHoo! :(

So... WTF is brp telling the canadian dealers when they ask why are we paying 20% more than the dealer 200 miles from me? There is no frikkin reason for it. sj

Sorry guys. I meant $9700. Wrote it down wrong. My apologies. Maverick motorsports in Laramie WY had some great deals on new 08 models last week when i was there. Give them a call if interested also.
