Still a price issue for 2009 Ski Doos

Well, I just priced out a 154 X with 800R and E Start.
$11,099.00 US and $13,149.00 Cdn.
And that is with a dollar that (currently) is worth more than the US.
:face-icon-small-fro Thanks, but no thanks! Way to go BRP!

Wow, I thought 2009 the US and CDN pricing would be closer, I guess they have no problem keep screwing us Canadians, I love Ski-Doo, have ridden them all my life, but what the heck is with the price difference. I can understand in 08 since when they released them the CDN dollar was still lower than the US, but now its worth slightly more, and dosnt seem to be going to far anytime soon, but the 09 is still a $2050 differrence, what do we get special parts or something? Agreed prices are still high, but what really miffs me is the difference.

What a bunch of B U L L S H I T:(.....................Brp get your s h i t together or the Canadian dealers are gonna pay for your greed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well all go to the USA for our purchases or better yet keep pulling this crap and well all be riding a different brand!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe a bunch of us Canucks should open up a dealership in Blaine Wa or some other
border town, and sell them to ourselves...then when there's a warranty issue, we just send the parts or bring them down... It would be an exclusive "club"....never open, we all have a key....
Borderline SkiDoo--No Service-No Sales-No Warranty Work, Cash Only, and F___ You!

If you buy in the U.S. instead of Canada, the only thing you do is hurt the Canadian dealers. Brp still makes a sale. The dealers aren't ripping you off, Brp is. The only way to fix this is simply don't buy a sled until the prices are the same. If Brp doesn't get one snow check from Canada this spring I think the prices will even out pretty quick. The reason Canadians are being overcharged is because we've always been willing to pay it. This isn't only Brp, it's all the sled makers. Just my opinion.

The dealers are gettin screwed by BRP but they need to man up and tell BRP that they won't take this cr@p anymore. Unfortunatly they think BRP has them by the b@lls and keep on lapping up the sh!t that they feed them. I know I will be buying my sleds down in the states next seasons again and it will include my own personal sled this time too!

The fricking canadian dealers now get to charge $350 for a recal letter in order for me to register a used sled purchased in the US. Polaris , Cat, and Yamaha give these for free because it takes them 5 minutes and they see it is a manufacturers' responsibility, not a way to screw us.

They had no problem selling sleds to US customers when the dollar was 65 cents.

everyone should boycott cdn dealers this season..pick-em up down in the states! maybe do a group buy and get even a better deal!!:)

That was my first thought, but BRP has sewn up that route too, BRP will not allow a US dealer to sell to a Canadian customer, I have tried numerous US dealerships, I think the only way to get around it is if you have a US residence, I will not be buying a BRP product until the prices are the same.

I really hope that BRP doesnt get any snow checks from Canadians until they wake the hell up even out the price....i feel sorry for the Canadian dealers but BRP is really putting the screws to us AGAIN!!!! I have lots of relatives in the USA and thats where our next sleds are coming from for sure!!

Market demand is their reasoning. Same reason a sled costs twice as much in Sweden as it does here. You want it, you pay for it. Simple enough.

Believe me, dealers down in Tampa are fuming.....both, because of dealer costs rising and retails staying the way they are.

However, look at it this way.....you bought an 07 or 08 and want to trade it in or sell it, are you willing to take a bath and give your 13k sled away just to get into a new one? The guys doing this, selling their year old sleds aren't gonna let thier sleds go for 6 or 7 grand when they bought em for 13k. You gotta look at the big picture too.....plus how many of you are actually gonna buy something come spring check? Chances are a lot of this venting is just that.....

So it looks as if US pricing is up a bit this year, but is canadian pricing down a bit from last year?

Well I am a canadian and I just ordered a 2007 new honda rincon getting it shipped to canada. Retail price difference from canada to usa was $4000 on the same machine.
With shipping, brokerage fees, duty, etc, I think my savings will be $3000. Will let you know for sure when bill gets here. I also ordered tires, rims, winch and was a big savings on accessories also, we canadians are getting screwed, if I buy a new sled will be from usa.
I hate to shop across the border, but why should we pay more, my canadian dollar was worth more than the us dollar. I feel bad for canadian dealers for sure. Any other canadians buy from usa?

I bought 6 sleds last year from the staes and will be buying 6 or 7 this year. Will also be bring sleds up for people that don't care about getting warranty and want to save some major bucks. You can PM me for info. Like Reeb says, BRP will charge what YOU are willing to pay , if you aren't willing any more then time to take action instead of just b!tching

I for one, would absolutely take the hit on my 07 in order to bring prices down to where they should be, its got to happen at some point, might as well get it over with. It was my risk to take buying a ski-doo while the dollar was sky rocketing, and I do not expect anyone else to take the fall for it, and any guys who buy sleds every 1 or 2 years have to be willing to take that risk in my opinion.

Its no different than the auto industry, my trucks value has plummeted due to the dollar, and CDN dealers having to get closer to US pricing to compete, so cheaper new vehicles drive down the price of used vehicles, why should this be any different in snowmobiles? In the end the people that win are the ones getting into the sport, and thats what we want to encourage.

there are numerous factors why they are so expensive in Sweden, like shipping costs, duties and taxes, which I would bet could tack on an extra $1500 easy, which Canada does not have to worry about, but in the end your right, if we keep paying it, they will keep charging it, so I will not pay it anymore, I will buy from the US, unfortuneatly its the great dealers up here who did nothing wrong that suffer, but financially a 15%-20% difference is too significant to ignore.

Look at the Skandic line-up though, they are made in Scandinavia and they still cost twice as much as here. It's purely whatever the market will bare.

X-guy, not everyone is willing to take a 5-7k hit on their year old sleds just to get into a new one. It might help with everything under 600cc(out west anyways) to lower prices to get more people involved but we can barely keep the sledding population afloat the way things are let alone trying to bring in enough people to offset the lack of new sleds going out the door for a few years(what I imagine it would take to level things out again and get the yearly or every 2nd year buyers back again.)
