Stevens Pass

You should be able to drive all the way up the valley & park at the snow any day now, if not already. Unfortunately I have not been there lately to confirm this. If the snow on the road in isn't melted (and too deep to drive through), you're looking at about 2 miles of dirt road before you reach snow again. Either way, there will be enough snow to ride when you actually get to the mountain, just depends on whether the road is melted out and whether you want to ride dirt if it isn't. Have fun!

For anyone still wondering what the conditions at Stevens are like, I went out yesterday for what will (probably) be my last ride of the season. The Nordic center road is melted out enough that you can drive back almost to the base of the mountain, and unload right onto snow if you want.

After a short drive through the forest (about 1/4 mile, all snow), there are some patches of road that are completely melted out and fairly rocky. The ski slope itself is almost completely melted across above the bottom terminal of the chairlift, to the point that riding up that way is probably not possible.

We took the cat track road up and around the left side (looking uphill) and even there you will find a few stretches (maybe 2-300 feet total) where it is down to the road. From here on, there are few more melted patches here and there, but they are avoidable.

Obviously, the snow is melting very quickly now, so you can expect even more bare ground. Overall, it was a fun day and not bad for June, but might not be worth the effort after another week or so.
