Steering damper

Preliminary findings are that it truly helps :)

It feels much better especialy when you just want to go straight where it now continue on course without constant corrections.

Unfortunately my trial was cut in tiny litle bits due to an overheating problem so more to come...

As you can see it is a very simple installation involving nothing more than short tube with a m8 nut welded on one end an m10 at the other plus a 8mm hole in the frame.

We need to keep thinkering:beer;

That was too easy!! I am thinking of getting one now. I can already feel the difference, speeding down the trail and not chasing the line anymore. That would be very relaxing.

Can you feel the difference in the settings on the dampener.

Buffhawk, if the ebay one ain't the same as 600ours's it is close enough for the kind of work we need done. To think, it doesn't even cost $450, yeehaw!

yes! how much travel will it need to have i went to a cycle salvage shop a month ago, and told them to call me as soon as they got one in!! (they where all sold out at the time) i still would like to know how then old original ski adaptor would performe with this on trails? would not have to fight the steering?

Ok I'm back from the garrage with some measurements.

Yes it looks identical to the one for sale on ebay :beer;

The one I have has:

3.5 inches of stroke.
10.25 inches from tip of adjuster knob to center of mount at the other end of the rod.
6.062 inches shock body length.
Markings on it that says NHK JAPAN 01-B

Your adapter stem will have 2 inches in lenght overall with m10x1.25 threads on the steering heim joint nut end an m8 x your choice of bolt on the other end.

Be carefull with the hole position on the frame and you will not bottom the shock either way.

Yes you most definetely can feel the difference when you turn the adjuster knob :)

I started on full stiff and went down 2 clicks from there to find my sweet spot yous may vary.

Tinkering keeps us alive!!!

Guys if you have not already ordered your damper yet do it now !!!!

I am back from a 50 miles ride on a frozen river crisscrossing other snowmobile tracks an even @!%!?&*()_+quads tracks and the difference has to be felt to be believed :)

I can now ride with one hand most of the time and not worry about it :D

The biggest difficulty is to start to thurst it and relax even on bad trail conditions.

It should have had it from the factory !!!!

Ok enough typing I m off to the garrage:beer;
