square headers

i was wondering we run square headers in our modified, latemodel and super stock racecars, they make more horsepower over the round tube header. and are alot stronger they dont brake or crack like the round tube. i was wondering if this would improve our turbos? and the breaking header problems? or just a waste of time?

That's interesting I never thought of a square tube header. At this point I think guys would be willing to give anything a shot to stop the cracking. You should post this over in the Yami forum too.

Where do you find square tube bends?

I thought it was more for matching the ports of the heads as they are rectangular too.

All the ports I have seen are oval, so squished round tube works well.

studies have shown that the squre tube also keeps it from vortexing and cause more back pressure nascar i believe outlawed them because of the extra gain in power

I think that was only around the bends. Akrapovik makes some motorcycle headers that are more rectangular around the bends. Interesting stuff.

Boondocker's Phazer header is a square design.

I ran into a guy with an Apex last year with a BD kit. It had a square header on it. I ask some questions, but he said it was in the testing phase and would not tell me if it was a BD header or not. I have not seen or heard of it since. Do you know anything about it?

we did run that square header for a short time...then switched it over to an equal lenght header...and now he is running our latest tube header...from what I remember...there wasnt much of an advantage with the square design.
