SPOT's on sale at Canadian Tire

Just to let some of you fellow Canuck's know that SPOT's are in this week's Canadian tire flyer advertised at $20 off if anyone's interested in one.

Bought my dad one for Father's Day, spent the next 3 months tryin to get the thing to work right. Now that we have all the bugs worked out the whole family can rest easier, knowin he's ok when he's out fishing or hunting by himself is a huge load off.

SPOT was at the Salt Lake show last weekend and they had a killer. Pay for the top service and get the unit for free. I bought one and tried it out on Monday... took a little while for the service to go through but once it did it worked great.

What issues have people been having with these? Anything to watch out for?

Spot GPS for $100*

We now have the "Spot Satellite GPS Messenger" in stock. With a $50 rebate the Spot GPS is only $99.95.

If you do not know about the Spot GPS yet go to www.FirstPlaceParts.com This link will give you all the information needed to make an informed decision.

The above link list the yearly service fees which start at $99.

The price the unit is $149.95 minus a $50 mail in rebate.

Thanks
Mark

The old lady went to 2 Canadian tire's yesterday in Calgary to find one and they didn't have any in stock, why put the god damn things in your flyer if you don't have them in the store. What a piss off.

Anyone notice if Cdn Tire is selling the RAM mount for this?
Get you ram mounts for it here:
http://www.gpscentral.ca/ram-mounts/ram-hol-spo1.html
Then buy your spot here too. It might cost you $20 buck more but I think that is worth it not to deal with Crappy tire and put up with the crappy tire BS with the stupid blank look all the employees faces when you ask them any kind of questions on the product.

These guys are great to deal with and they know there products inside and out.

The same flyer is likely a province wide copy. Unfortunately different stores carry different stock. The store in your area probably sold out or never did have them. See if they can bring one in from another store. They've done that for me before.

I can't believe how stupid some people who work at Canadian tire are, where do they find these people. Went in there a couple weeks ago and asked the guy to unlock the cabinet to get me a 7/8 socket with a 3/8 drive and he looked liked I'd just asked him rewrite the theory of relativity, took him 10 minutes to find the socket.

I just bought the SPOT a month ago with no rebate and no deal on the GPS subscription.

Anybody know how I can accomplish the rebate or subscription deal now?

I laugh when they put stuff in their flyer and when you ask why they don't have any they tell you they only had 1. Maybe in Calgary they had 2, but you were the 3rd guy in the store. You'd think they'd realize by now that nobody wants to buy anything from them until it comes on sale. I needed a water tank in an emergency, 2 days later....on sale!

there is a promotional deal on the spot subscription thru Yahoo, if you sign up to their Fire Eagle service you get the $100 subscription free for one year, as well as the tracking feature for free ($50 value). doesn't matter where you buy your spot, the promo code will work. promo good until Dec 31

I've had the spot for a month or so, it works good so far everytime I've tried it.

Fire Eagle

I looked for this special and could not find it.

Spot changes there specials often and I think their special now is the $50 rebate.
