Best Deal for Spot

Costco has them for $150 (after $50 rebate) and includes first year of basic service. That is $50 cheaper than everywhere else.

Cabela's is on backorder. My wife got me one today after I mentioned it

However, it must be purchased by 12.31.08 to qualify for the rebate. Get your's today! Crap, that sounds like a commercial.

Costco is too high

I saw them at Costco to, for the $199.00 before rebate. Also found them at 3 other places for $150.00 and two more for $170.00 all locally, no ordering or waiting. So I bought mine today for $150.00 and after rebate will be $100.00.
Figure it's just another piece of my safety equipment, lets me notify S & R in emergency without having to send someone for them or losing that time or losing that person to help.
I've had to flag down another sledder get S & R once when one of my kids got hurt (turned out not to be serious but we couldn't take chances as it was a neck injury), was lucky to get someone fairly shortly after it happened, but with this there is no counting on luck again, its hit the button and take care of the injured person or search for the buried victim or get building a fire/shelter to keep them warm. No wasted time, no worrying is the person you sent to get help gonna try to go so fast that they lose it and wreck, etc.
The yearly cost for the basic service at $100.00 is easily affordable for the peace of mind.

Eat my words

If the Costco deal includes the first year of service than it is the best deal. But I didn't see that noticed while I was there so I don't know for sure.

Costco Not Too High

It does include the first year's service. There is a special code in the packaging you use during the activation process which gives you credit for it.

I just completed the process a few minutes ago and tested it out with a "Check In" message. It worked perfectly. It is way cool!

Well poop, I was going to order one last night from Cabela's and I waited till this morning and now the 50 buck rebate is no longer available from ANYONE, since it was a manufacturer rebate.

I am going to get one anyway since it obviously is a lifesaver. I am retired now but I still have many buds that fly and I want to give it to one of my buds who flys the triple seven and see how it maps a flight from Newark to Paris. If it is altitude limited however that may not work. I haven't read the limitations as of yet.

I personally think this is an invaluable service. Could have used one this summer up out of Almont, Colorado when one of our friends took a dive over a cliff on her brand new ATV. We were lucky she didn't die and our cell phone did work but I had to describe to mountain rescue where we were, coordinates would have been much easier.
