Spool Time

There are a few more items that would factor in. The compressor and wheel specs as well as exahust will all factor into spool speed.

Because I've been curious myself, lets just assume that it's a Garrett GTX3071R vs a GTX3076R with a .82 AR housing, external wastegate, etc. All you do is unbolt one and bolt in the other.

I have trouble seeing a reason to run that much turbo when you aren't running out of steam with a 3071 yet?

I have been around these two turbos for a long time in the audi scene. On a 1.8L motor they spool exactly the same, but with the 3076 having way more top end. Seen it numerous times. Not sure on a 2 stroke app though...

Its exactly the same..
the turbine side is the boss, the comp side follows its lead.
The comps ability to flow air at low shaft speeds is what makes lag either present or not.

tiny little turbos on sleds suck. literally..

looking at a turbos capability of peak power is not the issue here, its the flow at low speed that makes us Big turbo users so friggin happy.

stop dreaming that you will use a small turbo and spin it like its weightless and inertialess. Looking forward to snow to prove the new e torch with a gtx 3076 is bog free and hiccupless..
