What GPS/program are you using to get that style of overlay? That's freakin' sweet!

I used the TopoUSA map that camewith my Garmin and was able to overlay it on Googgle Earth.

Well I'm gonna start lobbying for some sort of trip for next year. As for the sled, the current plan is to mock up the tunnel for the skid and drill some new holes, put the brackets on and install the drive shaft just to make sure it all fits for when I get a track. Also going to swap out the steering posts....I envision lots of cursing and kicking of things for that. And all of this will happen around Turkey Day and then it will be on the hunt for a track.

What do you guys recommend I look for in a track? Larry I hear good things about the finger;)

What length are you going? 151 right. I would look for something like the stock 02 poo track. Will be a good compromise for flatland and mountain. They are a bit stiffer, so they work good in everything but fresh fluff.
Its not the best track in the world, but its a pretty good track that you should be able to get relatively cheap.

You are not going to be able to get more than a 2" track in there so that limits most the newer tracks.

Pull the motor to change the shaft. Its the only logical way of doing it. You can probably do it without unhooking any wires or hoses and just pull the airbox and motor mounts and move the engine out of the way.

morning all. my new sled is a secret something different than i've ever had before

Hey Sawyer, Congrats on the new sled. Thanks for sending me the pic. I will be sure to get that one piece jumpsuit with the belt and reflective piping in the mail to ya. Whoever said love doesn't change a thing hasn't met you my friend. Bwahahahahahahahah. EW

Skadi, I'm down for a flick and a couple of calanders. Maybe the special lipstick autographed version would be nice. I will try even harder to make your dig, would love to say hi to Mikey. Have a good one. EW

EricW...very funny! Now Sawyer just needs a tobogan to pull the rest of the Brady Bunch and he will be in business.

Okay, I didn't have my G.E. on 3D View. How did you get your track to show in "Highlighter squiggle"? Mine just has little squares showing the route.

Also, does anybody know if there is an option to show which direction you were headed on the "tracks"? Mine cross over eachother alot and I don't know which way I was going from the meeting point. Garmin Rhino 530hcx.

naw it's not bad. Just gotta pick the play times until the kids are old enough to join in!;)

I always wondered what it was like having older parents.

Dude...my dad was 50 when I was born. When he hit retirement age he was off to Arizona while I was hitting the know it all age of 15. I thought it sucked and about the only thing I learned was how to interact with his generation. Had some great conversations with a lot of WWII guy's.
Was not a real good deal for me....IMO of having an entire generation gap between us.

Been thinking about you guys this summer. Just now trying to catch up with all the BS on here.

This link is a video that's just short of 9 mins. Many of you may have already seen it. Read the written stuff below before watching the video. Or not. Whatever. Anyway, just thinknig of ya'll. Besides making sure your sled is running top notch before the season, please check your safety equipment too.

You'll need sound.

...winter storm watch in effect from late tonight through late
saturday night above 3500 feet...

The national weather service in spokane has issued a winter storm
watch above 3500 feet for heavy snow and blowing snow...which is
in effect from late tonight through late saturday night.

Snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are expected from saturday
morning through saturday night at elevations above 3500 feet.
Above 5000 feet...accumulations of up to 18 inches are possible.
In addition...southwest winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph
will cause some blowing and drifting of snow that will reduce
visibilities. Mountain recreational activities and travel during
this storm are not advised.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

This storm is the first potentially significant winter storm of
the season. People planning recreational activities in the
mountains should monitor the weather forecast closely.

Thanks for sharing , But yea tomarrow will work sometime in the afternoon would be best for me say 1ish if that will work.

The squiggle as you say is a setting in the GPS I can choose from several so i can multi trace routes from different days and ovwerlay them and be able to tel where i went from one day to the other.
But as far as being able to tell whivch way you are goin, is another setting, i can use that will leave lil dots for a trail i can ut my curser on a dot and it will tell me what time of day it was at that particular moment.

But now i can't even find my GPS, I may end up having to buy another.

yup, next friday, bring your mud boots just in case it's rainy and muddy out here!! I'm tryin to work on that by jen tells me EVERY time I have a party it rains so I'm kinda doomed from the get go... We have in the shop and we'll have a small fire going under the lean-to as well...

Shad, i think we're about dialed in, i think i'm just going to start with the base rock, the bigger stuff... few loads, and then some gravel... but not over the bigger rock just yet, gonna see how it sits next spring, it might need another layer of bigger rock before gravel... anyway, we can chat it out on sat, then in case i'm not here you know where to dump it too! we spent most of hte day working on it today and I REALLY hope we did a good enough job cause we put a lot of work into it!

Skadi....

....your an engineer. You should have a set of plans all drawn up for Nitro, ref WASHDOT and Spokane County Specs....:D
I'm thinking 1 foot of 3"- then .50 tenths of 1 1/4- for the winter and do 3/4- next spring after it dry's out.....Should handle the traffic, whaddaya think Nitro....
