Specs on the bolt that hold the secondary in?

Specs on the bolt that holds the secondary in?

Snapped it off on my '10 last night. The closest dealership that has one is a couple hour round trip and of course it's dumping out and is supposed to keep snowing through the week.

I'm wondering if I can pick one of these up at a local hardware store. Anyone know the specs on it? The bolt had a notch in the threaded section, what's that do and is it important?

1.) YES...you can use a bolt from your local hardware shop.

2.) HOWEVER....that vent (notch in the threads) is VERY....REPEAT, VERY IMPORTANT. That lets your DD breath and vent out moisture. Without that, your DD will be in bad shape VERY quickly.

If you choose to get a bolt from your local store, find a way to either notch the threads again, or, drill a TINY hole all the way through the center of it. The stock one on my 06' M7 had a hole drilled all the way through it. However, I got the 'upgraded' kit like the newer M's have (with the nothced bolt) that let you flip that bushing over and helps you colapse the secondary.

You can do a DIY fix....just be sure that you notch, drill, or do something to that bolt that will let your DD breath!!! That is the key!
