South Central snow event

Just curious about something, how come there isn't an Arctic Man or hill climb type of event for south central? Beings that the largest population in the state lives here you would think someone could put something together. Plus we wouldn't have to drive so far to attend it. Ideas anyone??

I think its a matter of where to do it. Summit Lake is perfect because of its remoteness. You have lots of great riding, and lots of room for facilities and parking. Its too bad someone doesnt get something going around the Igloo or something, though Ahtna would probably throw a hissy fit.

Problem I see with the Alyeska Motor Madness is if your not racing, your not riding and riding is my main concern, though I will probably go to the AMM event.
A true hill climb event would be great but I don't know where it could be held and still allow people to ride freely. I think the week prior to Arctic Man would be ideal.

I agree with you sledhed, but I think the problem is the logistics. Where do you put that many people? And all of their motorhomes and trailers and crazyness. It doesnt take many trucks to fill the turny parking lot, and where else would you you go?

This igloo would be a cool idea, but again there just innt enough room for all the people.

And there can only be one arctic man...

Would it be possible to do something out at Eureka? There's a bunch of parking out that way but i'm not sure how far you'd have to ride to get to some good hill climbing.

Maybe if they somehow plowed the lake next to the lodge out? I dont know if that is too much wieght though. I could be crazy
