Yep, thats about what it looked like when we went over the 'horns last night coming home from Cooke City.

Its looking real slim. I made plans to stay at Bear lodge for several days starting on the 19th. Im driving from Michigan. I bummed that the snow is low but I will have to make the best of it. I dont think I would be able to get out of my reservation this close to mt arrival with out paying 100% of my stay. So I will most likely use the Bear as a place to sleep and trailer to other locations. I will be heading off to Cooke for the second week so I have something good to look foward to.

If traveling from Bear Lodge where is the best place to drive and park for good snow?

Thanks,

Keith

Yea, I'm actually moving to Bear in 3 weeks or so to work there. I will be in the Shop working. Talked to Rick today (Owner) and he said snow is slim at the lodge, but once you get out down 14A and head west snow get better. But He said they need snow.

snow

My dad's friend went up there and said that meadow lark lodge had like 2 feet of fresh and a lot of snow so that is a good thing.

Not to bad for this time of year. I'll be going to Munkers for my first ride on
X-Mass weekend. I hope we get a little more.

Snotel above Meadowlark at Powder River Pass tells a different story. See link.

snow

I called meadowlark lodge today and they said about 15 to 17 inches i am going up riding the 22nd and will tell you how it was.

Visited Meadowlark and Powder River pass today. 12 inches max at Medowlark and not much more, if any, at the pass. Not powder sled material yet.

Add several days of strong winds east of Powder River Pass to the low snow conditions. It is not getting any better. A trace of snow fell on the south end last night.

An update on the Big Horn Mountain Resorts is that it is under different management now????? The new management is trying to buy out the old owner. As to better if any services available at either Deer Haven or Meadowlark, I have no idea and probably will not chance another zero at this time. Someone else can sample the fair and let us know if we are wasting time by even going through the door.

I haven't even set foot in either place in 3 years. I maybe ride on the side once or twice a year if the snow is good and I'm just going for a test ride or the day with family..My guess is Deer Haven is closed and still have not sewer or running water, and Meadowlark is open but with a ****ty staff and the food sucks like always. Stay on the north end if you plan to stay the night on the mtn, even if the snow is better on the south end.

The only way the lodges on the south end will become good again is if they are bought by 2 seperate owners and have to compete against each other. Like it used to be!! :D

Well, I started at Meadowlark about two weeks ago, so I am going kindly exlude myself from the Sh*** employee statement.

Otherwise where to begin, I am a Ten Sleep local and have seen this place go downhill from the begining of Jim McCotter's rule. Thankkfully it was bought out by two guys from California a few weeks ago. While we are still working out kinks (several of them) we are trying to get things on track. The ski lodge currently has food and bar and we are taking reservations right and left.

Also, Ten Sleep and the mountain have had disapointing amounts of snow in the past. However, we just got 11 inches of fresh powder on Christmas and have a solid two foot base now with more snow accumulation expected this week. I can't wait until we get the bar at Meadowlark open, which I expect to be shortly, but first we have to renew our liquor permits.

Well, there is the update. Call me if you want to talk snow.
