Someone in Kelowna know Ted@ Terra Alps?

I'll let go of this thread when Rookie has actually ridden his sled. I was looking through my old emails last week and in one of them I said that Rookie should bring his roller IQr up to me so we could get it to Ted's shop and have the tunnel done before Christmas. Rookie drove up to Kelowna to bring me the chassis from his place in Washington State the next week, I stripped it down to the bulkhead in a couple of hours and delivered it to Ted the next day.

That was Oct. 2007:eek::eek:

I have tried to stay neutral on this, but really.........WTF Ted!!! Just finish his damn sled already!!! I recommended you to Rookie and we both thought it would be good for your business to get one of your sleds/tunnels down there in Holz country.

Ya totally F#%*ed that up, and haven't even acknowledged that there is a problem with an 18+ month (.....and still counting:clock::clock:) sled build.

Shoulda taken it to Chad at CR......would've been done in 2-3 weeks.....MAX!!!

I totally understand ! I waited 6 weeks for mine at the dealership, then I went and picked it up and did the work myself, But, I don't understand anybody that would wait an entire season for someone else to work on their sled, if the guy isn't doing the job, do it yourself or take it to somebody who will ! Its your own fault if you let someone repeatedly screw you around!!!!!!

I highly doubt Mark Holz is worried about one of Ted's machines being in his neighborhood. The reason I say this is, Mark and Ted run completely different businesses. Holz fabricates and sells high performance parts and peices, along with building complete custom snowmobiles, day in and day out. He has earned a reputation for excellent products and fast reliable customer service. Ted owns a Mini Storage building.

Justpinit is not the problem here, Ted is, and he's read this forum. Lots of locals have filled him in, he apparantly just doesn't care. Shmo wins for calling it like it is, too bad the prize is a Terra Alps tune up. It'll probably go unclaimed, he's smarter than that.

Everyone has got there sleds, except Rookie. I assume Samsquatch got his, he's not on here posting anymore. Sounds like your in Kelowna, drive over to Ted's and check on Rookies sled. Why post on a snowmobile forum when you are right there in Ted's town. I can understand Rookie and Shmo posting on here to get info, but a local (Kelowna) ranting on a forum that Ted has never replied on. We get it already, I have dealt with Ted, was not fun.

I feel bad for Rookie, thats why more will get done if local guy's go to Ted's and grind him. Ranting on here will not get Rookies sled back any sooner. Some of us already know all to well about Ted's customer service.

It may not help Rookie, but, it may help other guys, when they see that these issues still have not been resolved, and it seems Ted could care less ! CRFred you of all people should understand , how long did you wait for your sled ? go back and read some of you're posts, now you have your sled and it almost sounds like you are defending Ted !

I do understand. I had a family member go to Ted's at least twice a week. IMHO that is why I have my sled back. My advice is to get in Ted's face, ranting on this forum does no good. I agree it is not right to treat a customer like this. I will not recommend Ted to anyone without telling them about his customer service or lack of.

Is this a dream!? My sled is home!?

My sled is home! It was delivered Sunday night to Calgary, then a friend hauled it home to me monday morning. The sled is running, the new coolers look really good. Not all the work got finished, like the digitron mounting and wiring, but it's home. I have been working on it now evry night to get it done so I can ride it. Last week we got a huge dump of snow so I should be able to ride it here till April. Pulled the exhaust off to work on the carbs and looked in the cylinders... slight scuffing on the cylinders and pistons. WTF? Called Ted he said it is normal? Documented it and took pics, will send them to him. I want my butt to be covered. He said ride it. I will inspect it again after a ride and see if it's worse. I hope this nightmare is over. I have zero miles on it since it arrived. Let you guys be my witness. lol!:p

Glad you got her back! There is still alot of good riding left to the season.

SHMO!!!.......BAHAHAAHAHA!!! Terra Alps Mini Storage!!! Almost spit my coffee all over the keyboard this morning!!

I thought this was a dead thread yesterday when it finally hit page 2. Alive & well this morning, I see. I've been to Ted's shop at least once a month since Rookie's sled project was started, and all I can really do is give him some "positive encouragement" to get things finished. What am I supposed to do?? Go in there "goon style" and strong-arm him until he starts working on Rookie's sled??? Ted is a grown man, so I'll let him make his own mistakes with his customers.

Terra Alps Racing was basically created because of work that started with posts on this forum, so don't kid yourself.......he is lurking while all the bashing is going on.

TTT for Rookie. Last time for me. Over & out on this one!!

Scuffing is not normal on pistons and cylinders with zero miles. Three cheers for Terra Alps.

well...one mile...???...two miles...???..like why do you ASSUME there is zero miles.???..maybe it was run a bit..a second..maybe two or more..A MINUTE...A HOUR ..??..my factory engine had minor scuffing right away..15 MILES...it was insignificant regarding anything ??...so give us some parimeters please..???...you know, educate the masses...

Drove it from the parking lot on to my truck, then into my shop. There is a ridge on the exhaust side of the piston I can feel with my finger nail. Not how I think a new motor should be. Ted was having problems with the cooling syatem air locking. Could he have overheated it? Would this have damaged it? Hmmmmmm:confused: Not happy. Now it won't run. It fires then quits, fires then quits. God this thing is cursed.

Here is a set of pistons with 4000 miles and no scuffing. What are your thoughts Mysteryboy?

i didnt say it was impossible...i said that engine scuffing does occur often with no negative effects...my stock motor scuffed right away...15 miles..no problem...anyway im glad to say that my mod motor...the 900 is looking real fine...no scuffing...im sure that i will be able to display them with 4000 miles on them in the same manner that you are...YOUR POSTS DON;T MAKE SENSE...Gomers pile...Forests dump...Mobys dick...don;t matter your still
Winnies pooh..

Longhair,
Did you get those from Bruce? :D Seeing that you have never built anything yourself.......Bruce does do good work.:beer; I had a good chat with Bruce and to say the least, he's not really thrilled about the negative feedback that you are producing for his shop. Its amazing what will make its way around the block, eh? The entire time, he didn't bad mouth one builder in the industry. That goes along way!
I guess its better to be thought a fool, rather than opening your mouth and removing all doubt.
Cheers.
longcoat tail rider:rolleyes:
