Some questions for you polaris guys about a 07 600 rmk!!

So grew up around polaris then had a skidoo and then sold it then had back surgey and now on a m7 with a few basic mods and going to do some more this summer. Anyways my mom and dad sold there sleds when i had my back surgey (im only 17) so we havn't quit found what we want for my dad yet. But we had older sleds before a gen 2 and a kingcat and then the rev which i sold and quikley and others before that obvisly this was a couple years ago tho. Anyways end of last season i got my m7 got it all dialed in now and its running great and i love it so going to do a bit to it. My question is first off anything wrong or that i should look out for on 07 600rmk ? How much do they weigh stock and how much hp do they have? For one with 3800 miles for $3200 is it a bad deal ? Will it need a top end,how long do they usually last ? Was there any big improvements in 08,09 etc. etc. Last question is my moms smaller 120lbs and like 5 feet and for now if my dad wants to take the sled out will it be enough for him ? 6 feet or so and about 210-215lbs ?? Thanks in advance guys if you could answer any or all those that would be great. Oh also if any of you have a m7 or have rode both how do they compare ?? Bring me back to knowing polaris's again kind of got out of them after selling ours and going cat and have to say i love my cats and cats have a great motor and the msereis just feels so natural. Again Thanks and sorry for the long post !!!

Wow a lot of needed info. Had an 06 Switchback 600, great sled although there were issues with where Polaris mounted the rear heat exchanger and the front radiator. The rear heat exchanger would at times contribute to heavy tunnel icing and the front radiator was useless, both items led at times to over heating issues and the use of scratchers. These issues were resolved in 08 I believe, EFI was added to the RMK but I am not sure the year, maybe 07? You can get radiator delete kits and new plastic for these sleds if money is not an issue. Look also for cracked carburator boots. The motor is strong and durable and the sled will run in the snow and will probably work well for you guys. Give the sled a through look over (cleanliness is everything on a used sled for sale) and if you feel good about it, buy it. The price is fair.

You asked alot of questions but didn't state the kind of riding you do or location.

In my riding group, there are 4 of these sleds.

IMO....the 2007 Polaris RMK 600 (Carb'd) and the 2008 Shift 600 (which is also carb'd) were the best sleds Polaris has ever built for performance and reliability. The tuning of carb's is much easier than tuning EFI for some people. The electrical system IE: voltage regulator and CDI box on the 06-08 carb'd sleds is much more reliable than the voltage reg and ECM combination of the 07-10 CFI-4 EFI sleds.

The 07 RMK and newer sleds are on the IQ-RAW platform which is much better than the 06 IQ platform. IQ-RAW chassis RMK's have a much better cooling system that run full length tunnel coolers. No more large chunks of snow and ice sticking to the top of the tunnel which can fall off and wedge between the track and tunnel. They are also lighter than the 06's. The 2007 has better carb's and head than the 2006 does.

I believe the 2007 Switchback's are not on the RAW platform.

In 2007, Some (most) of the RMK's are carb'd however, there are a few that are EFI (CFI-4). In 2008, all of the RMK's went to EFI (CFI-4) with the exception of the Shift's which were carb'd.

Some of the 07-08 EFI (CFI-4) sleds have had mid range throttle driveability symptoms that have been difficult to rectify without the addition of a fuel controller. With the 4 injector set-up, part throttle to full throttle injector timing control. The CFI-2 that came out in 2009 runs much better and has a different, but much better electrical system that is basically still being used in 2012.

Another thing great about this sled is the option of a Carl's Cycle 660 or 685 kit when pistons are due for replacement.

Considering the options of adding the narrow 09 plastic front end, swapping for better shocks, replacing the plastic chaincase cover with an 09 magnesium or billet cover from Polzinhunter, adding intake vents, installing proper jets, a clutch kit from Carl's Cycle..... the 2007 RMK 600 would be an awesome sled.

Our riding is 5k-8k ft but usually around 6kft usually and we mostly ride the steep and deep and boondock, it would get jetted if we got it and clutching and vents little stuff like that. As for modding it alot it probably wouldn't get it as my mom is "small" and light all i was wondering really is if they were reliable and how the power was and if it would take my dad where he wants to go for now until he finds himself a sled he wants/likes. Also if anyone has rode a m7 how it compares to that.

I just sold my 07 rmk 600 with just under 8000 hard miles on it. Never had the engine apart, add oil and gas, and ride ride ride. One of the most reliable sleds I have ever had. HP is around 120. Wish I still had it, but the 2012 Pro was just to tempting lol.

What did you get out of it if you dont mind me asking ? Also ever rode a m7, if so how do they compare ?

Now riding an 07 600 carbed RMK. Stepped down from 175 hp, to 150hp now riding my little 600 and love it.

I need to dial in the supsension, but it is all around a fun sled. I bought it needing a rebuild for $1200 and now have about 2k into it. In hind sight, I should have done the 660 from the start due to the fact I had to do cylinders and pistons, but that will come later.
