Snowmobile Tabs Going UP $60.00

Cary Condotta, a REPUBLICAN (dissapointed):face-icon-small-con from Wenatchee in the Washington State House sponsored a bill and it passed. They have raised our registration to $60.00. Voters in his area should let him know this is unacceptable. We all know the access and grooming won't get better. They will take the money and use it elsewhere.

*****

Randy cmon....do not tease us.

I wish the tabs were $200.00 per year with 150 going to grooming.

new sled with tax and goodies $ 15,000..............good for three years
capable truck and trailer to haul at least two $ 40,000 good for ten years
fuel for one truck and one sled per full day of riding close to home...$100.00

average days ridin per year..............................15

take off trade in value of three year sled versus new sled... 7,000
45 days riding at 100 each for sled gas oil and goodies 4,500
150 miles round trip times 15 trips times 3 years at .80 a mile..........1,440
maybe need a google and gloves along the way.............................500

so to ride 15 times a year your out of pocket expense is going to be at a minimum if you live in a tent and drive a yugo 4,500

and you are bitchen about 60 buck a season????????????

wwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

we should feel lucky

I know Guys in SD that bitch about paying the 15.00 fee. I'm just glad ours is that cheap because we have to buy a ton of out of state tags to ride in the great west, plus drive 10 to 20 hours for 3 days of riding, wouldn't gripe if I could pay 60 drive 2 or three hours and ride. think of it as the living in great snow country tax.

lmao

we pay 20 bucks every morning on our trips to canada to hit the goods. 5- day trip 100 each times 5 - guys is 500 for the groomer.

just for our group.

I FEEL FOR THE TRAILS WE GET IT IS A BARGAIN. and the chalet is nice too

but down here in washington for all you whiners..thant cant friggin pay 100 buck a year and then bitch about the grooming....lmao....
.sell your chit so i have more fresh!!!!!!!!

especially the guys with the lifted trucks and loud stereos that can't afford a friggin snowpark pass. that plug up the snowparks pounding their chests with their bravado....lmao

I really don't mind if the tabs go up but i,m just afraid that the current administration will try to find a way to take the money and us it somewhere else I've always thought that they should have a system like most boat launch's have or like it is in Canada but I would still be worried about the state getting involved

the state

even if you gave the state 200 per year... for your sled and did not get chit back..

is it any different than the other money we give them that we don't get chit back??????? how is that sound transit tax working out for ya.

at least with this we could bitch..

right now i don't think we have a leg to stand on as the current tabs aint chit.

it is the equivalent of about a case of beer in canada.

we have had it easy.

I guess you could join the obama plan and ride a 20 year old enticer in public wellfare access areas....in a circle like the tourists at metaldome!

but for me,, till i can't,,, i am going to hit up the goods

Just wanting to correct the facts that the snowmobile registrations will be going to $40 next year and then $50 the year after that. So in two years the registrations will be at $50 NOT $60 as the original poster had stated. The bill that passed was SB 5889 which was a Senate bill and Condotta is a House member so he is not the sponsor of the bill that passed but he did sponsor HB 2002 which did not make it through the legislature.

Grooming costs in many areas are about $30 per mile and SnoPark plowing is in the $80 to $100 plus per hour depending on equipment. That translates into each snowmobiler paying for about one mile of trail to be groomed one time plus 12 to 15 minutes of SnoPark plowing for the entire season.

The groomers had frozen their rates for three years to try to help budget through the tough times but as you know fuel will be a lot higher after three years so you know it is going to cost more. Doesn't matter what state or program but fuel rises grooming is going to cost more.

I am chairman of our local grooming council so watch our budget pretty close. We have had to cut back a lot of miles due to the lack of funding as well as keeping our local parking lot clear.

For those that are skeptical that we will not see all the funds JetJohnson has stated many times that there are many watching the funds. We have WSSA as a state association watching and WSSA has two paid lobbyists watching in Olympia. We have the Winter Recreation Program within State Parks watching because their salaries come from the snowmobile funding so they don't have a job if we don't have funding. There is the Snowmobile Advisory Committee to State Parks which is made up of snowmobilers, non-snowmobilers, other agency people, and commissioners watching the snowmobile program and their funding. The groomers and other interested snowmobilers are watching the program so in the end it is very hard to sneak any money out of the snowmobile program without someone noticing it because there are many people watching from many different angles.

The Winter Rec staff has worked hard the past several years in applying for and receiving grants from various sources to help supplement the lack of funds. Some may not think the situation is serious but it would be a lot worse if extra funds beyond the registrations and gas tax weren't found. How long grants will continue to be available or for how much is anyone's guess.

Due to the bad snow year sled registrations are down again this year unless everyone can get those sleds registered before September which isn't very likely to happen. We will be down about $250,000 next season for grooming compared to what we have had for this season.

Again just wanted to clear up some facts and let it be clear that the registration fee is only going to go up to $50 from this years legislation and you will still be getting a "free" $40 SnoPark permit with your registration at this time.

this is great, I have 5 sleds licensed and I'm not complaining I am happy about it. people to figure this stuff out, they would have raised them before but they could not guarantee that all funds go to our funds, so when they could guarantee it they have raised them, I don't go to very many groomers meetings but when I did I got informed and realized all the people involved including the forest service that was there was on our side

People who live on the good side of the mountains know that Condotta actually does look out for motorsports pretty well. When he entered the state house of representatives, he sold his motorsports shop in Wenatchee. It's difficult for me to remember straight since there has been so much movement between the shops right there in the last 5 years, but if I remember right, he did sell Polaris sleds in addition to a couple brands of wheeled off road vehicles.

Take a quick look at what a skier at Stevens Pass pays for a single day's lift ticket, then get back to me about how the state government is screwing us over at $50 per year.

I've said this before.. Less grooming keeps the dinglebirds out of my stash!

$60 does suck, but it could be worse.

I don't have a $15k sled and $40k truck either.. My sled cost more than my tow rig for sure. I can still swing $60 for registrations long as they keep the crapper at the snow park. Much more important than grooming.

I'm ok with paying more as long as the money is going into the right hands. Hopefully this will pan out for the best and we'll have to find something else to cry about.....

Yeah I can and will afford it but I like lots of others don't own all the new shiz.. Either way. Lay off the sauce and read into The sarcasm sometimes.. I will pay $60 and rape your pow day long..

lmao

thanks everyone for the good and bad rep!!!!!

3 to one good.

this issue has always bugged me as i have always had an interest in keeping our riding areas open and access good too.

After riding in canada many years ago and countless epic trips to bc since. it is easy for me to complain about our spoiled entitlement attitudes here.

yes i said entitlement... just like the bums living off the govt.

if we pay more we have more clout and power....

pay less and then who gives a **** about us.

if the snowmobile community paid what i think we should...

olympia would be taking better care of us.

till then we are just bottom feeders looking for our enlightenment hand out.

remember we are not the chosen gods of our time ( the environmentalists)

who can spend a little or a lot and will always be looked on in a much more positive light.

the choice is ours

Chris
