snowmobile extraction

Anyone ever need a snowmobile extraction. I have a gas powered winch w/ at least 600 feet of rope. Me and a few other people extracted a sled a few days ago and it got my mind working. I am located in Boise and could travel to nearby riding areas. Any ideas or advice is welcome, thanks. PM me if you would like my phone number.

How about the need for such a service. Just bumping around ideas. The sled that we pulled out was about 150 ft. down a steep incline off a logging road. All in all took about one hour to pull the sled back to the road. Of course the tow home was another story.

We used one to retrieve a four-wheeler that got away from a hunter on the Salmon River breaks. It was about 2000' down. Totally destroyed. Had to fabricate a wood skid to tie it to (no wheels left that turned) and we pulled it up out of the canyon. All day job but the insurance agent gave us the four wheeler and $1000 bucks for recovery. Saved them much more than it would have cost to have a helicopter fly it out.

They work well. We had one in the back of our pickup this weekend. Just in-case it got ugly.

So what did you do with the quad?

So what did you do with the quad?

We sold the clutchs, motor, transmision, and any other part we could salvage. Worked out pretty good. Fun day with friensds, split the money and had a good time.

If I can dig up some photos' I will post. You can't even tell what it was. Pretty wild. I can only imagine climbing off my wheeler. The turnning around and see it flying down into the canyon. :)

One of the last times I rode anything with more than two wheels, I watched it do the 1000 death roll down a mountain. They seem to pick up speed as they crush themselves into more of a round object. lmao, dirtbike is a proper off road vehicle.

I would hire you, hopefully never need too. You need to get an ad out somewhere, maybe on snowest, with your rate.

Trying to figure the rate part out. What do you all think. I was thinking about 150 for the first hour and 75 per after that. What would it be worth to someone?

I lost the stator on my son's sled, a few years ago, and we were about 3 miles off the beaten path. We only had to get out of the hole we had just dropped into and then it would basicly be downhill from there to the groomed trail. The pull up out of that hole was about 600 feet and there was about 2 foot of powder. Not good. We rounded up a continuous handwinch(come-a-long)with about 200 feet of rope. Once we got everything rounded up and rigged up, it took about 2 hours of cranking that hand winch and we had it to the top of the bowl. My arms still ache thinking about it. The motorized winch would have been a definate improvement, to say the least. Not everyone has a hand winch like that one with a good length of rope, let alone a motorized one. As for pricing, you might compare with what a rental shop would charge for one. You have a great idea and had I known you were close I might have called you. Maybe I just need to find out where you got yours. On another trip, I lost a chaincase and was into the back country about 8 miles. I took in a new chaincase on that one.
Good-Luck!!
