Snowies grooming

Does anyone know when the grooming for the snowies will end??

Just curious because 2 weeks after the grooming stops, I start riding out of greenrock.

that might not be good for a couple of the newbies coming out with me the 4th-8th. Hopefully we can still find our way around, because it is only my 3rd time out there.

130 is easy to follow, other than that, just keep the widow maker in view and you will always have a reference point.

Gonna be out there the same time as CB2honk. I've been to the Widow Maker but never beyond. Is that usually where the best snow is?

best snow that i've found out there is on the west side. But then again i've only been there twice. widow maker area is just a fun area to play around.

how do you get to the widow maker??

Park at greenrock.
Follow 130 till you see the mountain.
go north along the east face of the mountain.
Widow maker is along there.

If you go all the way north and skirt the mountain you can head back west and that is usually where the good snow is. That and around sand creek.

Ohhh, my aching kidneys! :(

End of day Saturday on 130 reminded me of the old days going over Illinois Pass before they were grooming Gould. If you'd breakdown in some of those holes, S&R would have to pull out the heat sensor equipment to find your a**.

You ain't kidding there.
You couldn't just jump off and head across libby because of a ground blizzard.
Take the super mogols and put that together with the fact I was almost run over by 3 different people playing on the baby hills RIGHT beside the trail and I wasn't in the greatest mood by the time I got back to the truck.

When I was out there riding for a week n a half back in the beginning of March, 130 was about as smooth a ride you could find other than off-trail. Now if you wanted a a real kidney shaker, 'T' trail was the worse day in and day out.

I rode most the trails being out there so long and by far the best trail for scenery was Q trail. That entire lookout area was impressive in and around 'Z' trail. 'O' trail must be the best kept secret for meadow riding. 39864893 tracks going into and out of the roller coaster and very few on O trail speaks volumes. 'S' trail was also a nice ride. Wide trail, skinny trail, no trail...it had it all. And the loop back through Keystone was cool. 'V' trail is a boondockers wet dream. I doubt I traveled more than 200 feet between tracks heading off-trail directly into the woods.

BTW Ollie, you were right on about Spruce Mt. That was worth the climb up the tower. :D Almost busted my butt coming down those stairs.

No doubt the Snowy's are awesome and designed for climbers who only use the trails to get to and from great off-trail riding. But I'm likely just going to be a trail rider most of the time from now on so returning to the Snowy's may not be for a few years.

SUP slow Joe?????????

Road Sunday/Monday.....no groomers were around that I saw.....:(
Yeah, they are done for the year, unless they started again due to the last snow, doubtfull though. Most things stop operating on the hill April 1st, including my business. Take care bud, let me know if you are coming out this weekend.
