Wow! This is EXACTLY why I decided to post this question on here. After much searching for snowcat information on google, nothing! I found maybe one or two of these operations in my search.
The trip isn't until late March, so I'm not too worried about enough snow...although, what's the snow conditions like then? Any pow late March?
I'm not sure of how many people are going to be going, or what abilities everyone is at, but I've been riding for 14 years and am looking for the best terrain possible. Most of the others however are "old guys" (40-50) who don't get much time in the mountains. I've been all over the place filming and riding, but never Colorado, so my mind was at a blank with this.
And no offense PJ..but I think you're spending a little too much time on the boards, you sound a little worked up that I posted a Colorado question in the Colorado section.
Thanks again everyone!
If you have a big group than book the entire cat ASAP. That is what we did at Monarch and it was awesome. There was one weak skier in the group and she was having trouble. A few times the guide had to show her an alternative route.
If the skill level is all over the place and you want a more pampered experience than do Keystone. I think when I went a few years ago the Cat was brand new.
Snow in March is generally great.
I don't know much about Vail Pass Cat skiing but my gut says stay away as all you will see is sleds everywhere which may distract you from your expensive experience. Generally if i am skiing without my sled than I don't want to see sleds cuz than i'll wish i was sledding.
