Snow duning anyone?

A friend of mine who likes to ride his bike more than his sled just called little sahara to ask about the conditions down there and they said there is 2 feet of snow on the dunes. I've always wanted to take a sled down there but never have. Anyone intetested in going snow duning on saturday?

I did it once way back in the late 90s before I knew how to ride a sled very well. It could be a ton of fun but the snow melts super fast down there

Oh man, it is a RIOT !!
I have done it 3 times, every time chasing a storm. Some of the funnest ridding you can have !! A few of us might be interested in going.

Let me know. I'm at work today (friday) and can't always talk on the phone, so text me if you want to go.

I have done it a few times. Make sure your sled is running rich because the elevation is pretty low. I have seen more sleds burn down than not. Guys have their sled setup for 6000 - 9000 feet then take them to the dunes at 4500 and burn them down. The sand also plays he!! on runners, bogie wheels and gets everywhere.

I would go if I still had an old beater sled but not on a sled I care about.

As far as elevation, yeah be careful.

But if there is really 2 feet on the dunes, your not gonna get into that much sand to worry to much about it. If there really is 2 feet... ****in riot!!!

I think 3 of us are going

Cool, I'm still not sure if any of my friends are going yet, but hopefully will find out soon, so I might be heading down alone. Do you want to meet somewhere on the road or just down at the dunes?

I'll be riding my stock EFI M7, so shouldn't be an issue for elevation.

I just called down to the dunes to be sure of the conditions and the lady said that yeah, the dunes are completely covered in about 2' of snow and outside of the dunes you can just see the tops of the sagebrush showing thru. She said they don't have snow plows down there so the roads are snow packed but she said they have taken trucks to sand mountain and to the other campgrounds without any problems. She said trucks towing trailers have come and gone without trouble either. She didn't recommend bringing a motorhome or a large trailer because of the snowpack. She said it's sunny and about 21 degrees out and tommorow is suppose to be the same (so nothing is melting). Sounds about as ideal as can be!!!!!!!!!!!

Have fun ! After riding today in what could be the deepest powder I have ever ridden I need a day to recover before hitting it again on sunday.
