Snow conditions at Monte Cristo

I haven't been up there for about a week and a half. I was wondering if anyone went up yesterday after the New Years snow. How was it? Where did you ride? Were there still landmines? etc.

I went up yesterday to finish breaking in a new motor. I found one meadow I know is rock free and made some good turns but every time I ventured out I hit a little reminder. It was great to get out finally but it left me with blue balls. There's plenty of snow as long as you stay on the trails, and if you get off-you just have to ride very timid cause you will find landmines. Needs a better base and at least 2-3 more feet.
Good luck be careful.

Yep its not very good still. Rode out curtis creek and big cornice and LOTS of sagebrush and landmines. Caught a rock hard and luckily only bent skags on my ski. A few good feet definitely needed.

Bent upper and lower A-arms and the shock on a landmine Saturday. $400 in parts and I'll be up and running, but I don't think I'm going again until we get a real storm.

We were up Sunday, ventured over towards Powder Mountain, found lots of deep snow but no base, and lots of land mines, no damage except for a clutch on a 900 Mt cat, did have two sled get into trouble trying to cross a stream, the water was deep and COLD:o

Monte Riding

Well we went up on Sunday, and at first I thought it was going to a trail day. However we hit the Curtis Creek area and were able to find quite a few hills with some nice deep powder. Had to be careful not hit any landmines, (got a few with just the track) but all in all a good day riding with no casualties. It turned out better than we expected.

I got a report from some friends that went yeaterday, I had to work. They were telling me they headed twards LaPlatta and stayed on the road but as soon as the went off to play they hit/grazed rocks, stumps and logs. They were all lucky that nothing was broken and need more snow one said.

We saw the aftermath of that slide. It is good to hear that no one got caught in it though. The snow pack up there is minimal to say the least. We found a few fields to play in but there are lots of stumps and rocks waiting to cause havic.
