Snow conditions at Kilgore, ID...be careful!

I just got back from Kilgore...very very unstable snow! I urge you not to go on any open slopes! There is a lot of snow. There is no bottom (light fluff)and a very hard middle that only breaks into chunks when you shovel it....then another bit of fluff above that, then a layer of ice because of the recent warm spell.

We stayed in the trees. I guarantee any open slope there is dangerous...no matter the degree of the slope or how much it has been pounded by riders.

Please be careful out there! That means anywhere you ride... the snow has not set up well anywhere as far as I know.

Thanks for the warning. Did you go in from the Kilgore Store? I have been wondering if there is enough snow up there. I'll wait to let it settle some.

Yes we parked at the store and went in from there...we went in through Dry Creek. There is plenty of snow. You can go in...but just stick to the trees and boondock.

Thats what I do best!! Creek bottoms and "meadow hopping". I usually go in though Moose Pass, or the knotch as some people call it.

Yup, I know exactly where you mean...go in that way a lot too. That slope to the east right before the Notch even scares me right now. Good....play in the creek bottoms and meadow hop!
