Best fishing in years for coho in the salt so the river is/will be loaded.
My guess is a 16-18lb fish will win the derby.
Derby's are a blast because you have a good chance at getting something so it ads to the excitement of fishing.

man, it was tough out there in the river.. got a cookie cutter 7lb on saturday.. only one for 12 hours and 3 rods.. and a big fat skunk on sunday..

Come catch it---these trips cost money---but worth it.

The tuna picture is my last trip--I have made 3 trips this season so far and all have put out this way---hoping to get one more in if the water will half way cooperate. Otherwise--just catching the small PS coho right now till Lingcod and halibut open agian in May offshore!!

Headed up to rockport this afternoon. Gunna try for some upper Skagit coho/dollys!!

Saw no coho up that high. Talked to a drift boat guy. He saw nothing too.


Saw some spawned out fish flowing dn river and a huge steelhead I'm guessing?? It was big, 15 ft out from where I was standing. Tried putting a dick nite and a spinner in its face. Just made it mad, swam off then always returned to that same spot. I dunno.

Beautiful day to spend with the wife at the river though.

Flakey, Most likely a Summer Chinook. Steelhead spawn Feb-June I remember the real big Summers in the Sauk when i was a kid... They were like monsters to us! too big for any line (us kids could afford), rocks, shotguns, trucks and all; just fun to chase them down the river and watch the ski wake (yes we were bad for the fish, no outreach programs back then…)

Yeah, now you got all these "rules" problem is, adults act like that and ruin it for the rest of us!


Tried the stilly by silvana and arlington today. ZERO fish up in A-town. Not a jumper in sight.

Silvana has a few but its slim. Saw no one catching, and only a few fishing. Got both my good spots cause few people. More of a scouting trip till the rain comes.

Watch this temp line as it drops below 13C you will see the fish move regardless of the flow. Might be a sight as there is very little flow in the rivers!
