Snoho COHO!

I was working real hard today on the Skykomish River and saw a beautiful ~5lb chrome coho jump in the hole at the start-up levy. Then about 2 pools down we chased another ~5lb’er down through the riffle and got a good look as it went into the shallows and banged off the rocks. At the take-out in Sultan they were jumping and rolling. The river is very low so be careful in the pretty drift boats.

I'll be on the snoho, off river road, near downtown snoho in my waders. I was thinking Dick Nite spoons. any other good bait/tackle ideas? best of luck!!

Yea it was a time warp for me too… Everyone in the group looked at me and asked what it was and I was confused asking what month is it what year is it; and where am I!!! Next was the overwhelming realization that I haven’t finished my summertime chores

I was quoted on the wooldrdge boat site, in 2009, that 2012 was going to be a good coho year based on amount of yearling smolts collected in the estuary that year. So i have had my fingers crossed since then

I was shown the 50/50 wee dick night set up properly with a good casting pole and quality reel work well. lots of casting... Mepps Vibrax spinner #2 at most set up well will allow a prolonged wide coverage through retrieval.

Your best chance is from a boat but if you are patient and consistent, keeping the lure in the water anything can happen!

next boat will be a jet sled i hope.. I just needed to start small and learn right now.


Dick Nites are deadly in the snoho!!! find a deep pocket and drift em slow and low.. froggy pattern and the 50/50..

I got a beginner boat..
I had to start small.. 14' Lowe semi flatbottom.. 20hp Johnson, its blue.. plenty stable to stand and walk front to back, has a nice casting deck on the bow for playing those Salmon out. between friends with boats and my boat i'll be all over the river

next boat will be a jet sled i hope.. I just needed to start small and learn right now.

yep, installed one rod holder last week and bought some brads wigglers

we'll be pulling some plugs aboard a friends jet boat tomorrow..

The Lowell launch parking lot was 80+% full at 2pm today.

I'm gonna do the Coho derby next weekend.. never done a fishin' derby before.. should be fun!
