Smoking

So i bought 2 old MM's a 600 and a 700 both are 97's, I expect smoke with a 2 stroke but how much do these things smoke once warmed up and ran for awhile? Cuz right now the 600 looks like an old freight train ha-ha, they have been sitting all year so im hoping the guy i bought them from just fogged the heads with oil or that it will clean out some after running. I want the wife to ride the 600 and she is a prissy kind that will whine about the smoke if its too bad. In which case she can ride my Viper which smokes very little and ill ride the 700 MM.

Any suggestions? I plan to change the plugs anyway not sure if that will help, thanks in advance for any advice.

the 600 twins were known to use too much oil from the factory. check with a dealer for the correct cable clearance. there was also a few of the oil pumps that broke internally and went to full oil on the 97's. where are you located? make sure you talk to a tech that was around when those were new so they had experience with them at the time.
