Why does the trail get your bike hot? Normally the trail your moving faster with more air flow? Mine actually gets pretty hot in deep powder when you can't get past second gear and working the hell out of the engine?
I barely use first gear. Always second and 3rd. With my Pulsed TWIRP if i can get 3rd and 4th on the pipe it will hold it unless its a big climb. On the flat deep 3rd and 4th a non issue. I can hold it WOT all day in the deep and will never see over 120F. If you are seeing temps that are high in the deep then u may be lean, likewise if you can't build temp you may be rich. There are always factors and conditions that can change temp and performance. I tried KTM stats last season and they did nothing for me so i took them out. Until i can't build temp i will run no stats. I haven't even used a carb blanket this year. I like the minimalist approach to snow biking. The more crap you put on the more convoluted it gets imo.
Up the trail its all load and weight. Full fuel and a full gerry. Airflow over the rads is not quite enough with that kinda load. Some bikes may be a little different temp wise of course.
