SLP Ski Mount Ice Scratchers

Has anyone used the ice scratchers from SLP that mount to the skis and do they work as well as the rail mounts? I've got black powder coated rails this year and thinking I might try these to avoid ruining the finish on the rails. Thanks.

I've got the same question as you on the ski mounted scratchers.

EricW posted a couple of pics of his set on an IQ mounted on the skis and said they did a good job.

Anybody else try it yet??

My opinion is that the ski scratchers were good for the old type of coolers that ran under the footboards. The IQ RAW chassis' cooler runs the length of the tunnel in the middle, so a rail type scratcher will help bring temps down better and also lube the hyfax.

I run the Hartman ski scratchers, havent seen the SLP (I'll have to take a look). There is nothing better for hyfax lube especially with no bogeys on a long track (thanks Polaris). I watch my temps constantly especially this past spring on boost. I found that I run just the ski scratchers 75% of the time and do just fine. I put in an EZ-Ryde and the scratchers over the rail scratched the tube on it, I was fried.

I would try the ski only if you have digital or another good temp gauge to see how ya do. You can also do like I did and use a 3/16 U part of a cable clamp and mount it in the side of your rails for the scratcher tip to sit in rather than over the rail. Loooks pretty clean and works great so far. i get a pic of that mount this week. Good luck. EW

They come looking like this

I drill out the small hole so it fits tightly over the spindle bolt

I would be interested to see the picture of the way you mount the U clamp.
My rail scratchers rubbed my rail and is 1/3 of the way worn through.

And so you shall. Sorry to hear about your rails, bad deal. Here ya go. EW

Started out with a regular 3/16" cable clamp

Used the stock nuts as a jam nut each side and a locknut inside the rail

Just buy the 3/16" cable clamp at the hardware store and a couple extra lock nuts. Throw away the cable saddle, use the rest. Have a good one. EW
