SLP pipe installation observations

After installing my SLP full pipe kit on my 09 xfire 800sp, I noticed the right PV cable arch is touching the pipe. Does this happen on all installs? I have not been able to find a pipe of any pipe installs on M8s or crossfires for whatever reason... just a lot of threads about them.

Any solution to this? good or bad to bend the PV cable out of the was 1/8" or so?

hey rye-guy....looks good buddy, looking real good with the new exhaust.as for the cable i think theres a little tolerance there, put the bend on her.cracker can take it.

Yep.

Very common on the SLP pipe. Poor fit and finish in that aspect IMO, but nice performance gain. I put some fancy heat insulation around it as I was scared to "custom bend" the housing.

yes the PV cable is just one of the many things I have heat taped under my hood on my sled. That pipe makes some heat, and there are alot or wires and cables that are a little to close for comfort in my opinion. But its easy enough to put some heat tape around them.

Yeah, I put twins on my 700 and heat taped the piss out of everything. PV doesn't quite touch on mine but it's real close. Went all last season with no issues. Also, if you're worried about heat you can add some vents. I've got a hood vent and side vents that really help cool things down. as well as dash vents. the more cool air the better.

yep same here hoping it wont be any problems this winter I put side vents and gauge thing in also

Not sure you're supposed to be running the double springs on the pipe/y-pipe

ya I had few guys say something so i went out and they even say something about it in their directions!!so I was going to take the extras off and silicone the one left--I had problems with stock set up breaking springs??

exhaust springs

I just finished up installing the slp pipe kit, and am not impressed with exhaust springs. The y-pipe ones barely hook on pipe, and seem like they will fall off. The one on the pipe to the rubber peice is all strecthed out. The ones to the can seem all right, but not to tight at all. What are you guys using?

Use new springs if you have too. Mine all seemed fairly snug to still stiff to pull on

springs

You can adjust the spring loops on the pipe by gently bending with a wrench. Even mentions it in the install directions.

Springs

Single springs work just fine but I did break at least one every ride untill I put silicone on the springs. Since then I havent had any problems.

SLP Pipe

I had to use high temp silicon on sealing ring between y pipe and pipe. Mine leaked and slobbered, made a real mess.

i put transmission line around the pv cables and then heat tape on the top, never can be too safe...
